177 Air Arms 10.3 vs 177 JSB 10.3
After seeing a post on TAG about JSB, AA, FX and Edgun pellets I decided to weighted and measured the heads of 2 tins of 177 cal Air Arms 10.3’s then two tins of JSB 10.3.
Majority of JSB were 4.48, 4.49 and 4.50. The 4th most were 4.47’s. Majority of JSB weighed 10.3 – 10.5 grain with the forth most divided pretty evenly with 10.2 and 10.6 grain.
The AA tin majority were 4.47, 4.48 and 4.49. The forth most were 4.46’s. Most of AA weighed 10.3 – 10.4 grains with the 3rd most weighing 10.5 grain.
Without question the AA were more consistent and on average had many more smaller head pellets per tin.
On a side note I used an accurate reloading scale and an older pellet gauge. Supposedly some of the older pellet gauges were marked wrong so what says on mine 4.47 can be marked 4.48 or 4.49 on the newer gauges.

Nice confirmation. It helps to control your own dies and determine how long they get used like the private labels get. Now I wonder which are better – AA’s or Ed’s or my old label 18.1s?
