My BAM 50 project

I thought I’d drop in and let you guys see a project I’ve been working on. It’s one of the last BAM 50’s sold in this country, and it was bought for a song. Since the purchase, I had a tuner do some mods for me:

– Convert to .25 using a Marauder’s Green Mountain barrel
– Valve mods, it shoots +/- 60 fpe for 22+ shots on a 2700 psi fill
– Modified a Rowan Engineering aftermarket trigger to work
– Installed a Daystate bolt handle
– Rifle now has an SSG
– Lightweight hammer
– LDC Adapter

I’ve been working on the stock, since the factory set up is A: ugly to me, and B: turned out not to fit me well at all. It was actually uncomfortable to shoot. Some mods I’ve done, or am still working on, with regards to the stock are:

– Shaved the monte carlo cheek piece
– Leveled the angled comb
– Fit a Discovery’s butt plate
– Added an adjustable cheek piece
– Filled in the section of stock on the fore end that dips down
– Pillar bedded the stock with a custom made pillar made from a 3/4″ bolt
– Glass bedded the rifle- there was way too much play for my liking, plus I was a little overzealous making mods
– I will be installing sling swivels, and a sling stud for a bipod
– I will be painting the stock with a simple 3 color camo pattern

Some of the mods look ugly as hell in the beginning, but after some work will look fine with paint. Here’s some pictures:

The custom pillar. It is recessed for the M6 screw head. It’s a modified 3/4″ bolt, that’s been faced and bored to tightly fit an M6 cap screw:

Bedding job- I’ve already filled in the areas that didn’t fill out with bedding compound, and am waiting to pop it again. I used Acraglas, and it was way too runny for this application. The main tube channel looks good, and the main tube forward of the valve is free floating. I’ll post more pics after the fix:

I’ll post more pics when it’s done, and assembled. I just am so excited about this rifle being near completion that I had to share!
