I’m in Shock .. My Take on My New Condor 25 Caliber.
I have been into air guns some 50 + years .. I own 5 Careers in 22 cal, a Sumatra in 25 caliber , two Crow Magnums a couple of RX’s – all in .22 and modified a few QB78/79’s, have MANY springers and gas ram guns too. I have been impressed with all my high quality guns and what they can do.
Now to the Condor 24″ barreled 25 cal gun I just got.:
Went out to my little shooting area some 15 minutes from my house, the wind was blowing so I did not think I would be able to shoot, but it was blowing 15-20 mph not 35mph+ so I was able to set up. I set the PW at 6/1 as I have a “O” ring under the top hat, the gun had just shy of 2800 psi. I set up a target at 20 yards which would give me a 20 and 60 yard zero, shooting 925 fps according to ChairGun. I loaded up the ONLY pellet I want to shoot in this gun, a JSB King Heavy (34gr), as this gun is meant to be a “High Desert Hunter” …..first shot 979 fps and 6 inches low at 20 …WOW, I did not think it was going to shoot that fast at 6/1 with a “O” ring under the Top Hat ….. I lowered the PW one complete turn to 5/1 and shot again ….965fps … I left it there and within another 3 shots was in the X ring at 20 yards. I shot a total of 15 shots and not counting the first shot with the PW at 6/1, I was between 965 and 948fps. I’m sure with a full tank I will get a good 20 shots “WITH ONE PW SETTING” —— a twist up of the PW will surly give me another good 5+ if I need them !
The trigger is so so with a sandpaper first stage and then it stops, the final stage is fine for a hunting gun … the trigger for someone more critical than me would need to be polished, but for me, I’m already used to it and it will probably wear in.
This gun is AWESOME ……. She has a R&L shroud and that is just what I was looking for ….. How does the shroud function you ask ? Well the gun is not whisper quiet like a 12flb gun with this shroud, BUT it totally takes the bark or crack out of the gun and allows you to shoot with out folks around you hearing a gun going off. One of the main things I like very much about the R&L shroud is that it just looks like a heavy barrel, without an “ADD ON” look. This gun in 25 cal is very powerful and for an effective 6″ of working shroud length … it does all that I could possible ask.
As awkward as the gun looks in pictures, it is not, my gun is actually OK to tote in the field, a lot of my weight is in the Bi-pod and bi-pod adapter. For me: they only thing I will add with be a Ergo Tactical grip, need a Talon Tac15 adapter so that grip can be mounted.
To say that I’m pleased would be a gross understatement, I don’t see any internal adjustment that I could possible want with this gun. I’m VERY, VERY happy I decided on the 24″ barrel, as you can’t beat physics, the longer barrel with a PCP airgun equates to higher velocity with less air volume used.
You can probably see the smile on my face from your computer chair;- )
