OK, I Know I Won’t Be Able To Sleep Much Tonight !
Testing out my new 22 Condor SS tomorrow early am. I hope she has a good bell curve with Kodiaks. She will be looking sharp when the AR adapter shows up on Tuesday, already have the Hogue grip 🙂
I’m hoping for 875-950 fps with these pellets at about 5/8 on the PW …… May need to move it up to 6/? But hope not. Want a good 20+ shots at this speed with this weight pellet.
With a CPHP I want ~950 fps so my trajectory will be good in the 20-55 yard zone. Both these pellet weights have two completely different purposes, the CPHP’s for starlings and tree pest, and the Kodiaks for “Big Game” :- )
I very well may use the CPHP a lot because it only travels about 385 yds at optimum elevation, and still has enough fpe at 60 yards to knock a starling on his arse :-), and is cheaper then heck at WalMart —- Heavy Kodiaks will travel 650 yards …. That is a long way, so I must be EXTREMELY careful the direction I shoot using heavy pellets at high velocity !

Had a very slow leak at the gauge so I tightened the gauge up and gave a small scratch to my gun …Pi%%ed me off big time ! I think i can re- spot black it !
Will be going out again in another hour or so. This gun, my Hatsan and my Korean guns are about the only guns I have confidence in for long shots.

2 Hrs Later;
Every time I shoot this gun I get more excited … shot 35 shots on one fill, Shot Kodiaks and JSB Jumbo Heavies on same fill, mixing throughout the total shot count – the Kodiaks vary between 1015fps and 989fps (35th shot was 989fps, 26 fps spread, very nice ;- ). The JSB Jumbo Heavies went from 1054fps-1028fps (at shot 33, also a 26fps spread). I shot a total of 35 shots from 3000psi down to 2300psi. believe me I can very well live with this. From a full tank the shots are low and build it takes about 5-6 shots to be up to snuff, I really should fill to 2900 and go from there, I’ll get a better ES and 25-30 good shots on a hunting gun is just fine… I was pushing the envelope a bit but glad I did.
I shot at a small tree root that was about 3 inches high, about 1.5 inches wide at 66 yds …. I was smacking the heck out of it with both pellets at the same sight setting. If I put my group on paper I’m sure there would be some variance, but for me, it was more than good enough, I can’t hold steadier even from the bed of my truck. What was nice was the windage was on at my shooting distance, so need need to play with the adjustment knob when I change pellets. Also if a use 1045fps for the JSB’s and 1005fps for the Kodiaks (which is the average for these pellets out of this gun now), they both have the same speed at 75 yards. 748fps !
My PW is at 3/8 and like I mentioned a “O” ring is installed (IMHO, the first thing you do when you get a AirForce gun) I will be going out again in another hour or so – I saw some starlings but was more interested in getting some shot numbers.

Had a 53 yard shot on level ground at a big farm pigeon, (I have permission from the farmer to go after pigeons on his property) —- my gun shoots an inch high at that range, I know it… He is broadside, posing to get shot….. And I miss… Oh My %#€%…. What the ?
Gun had 2900 psi, JSB JH’s. After I missed I took a couple of shots at the same perch and was on, I was about an inch to the left because of the wind, but I had the X hairs on his front chest and I should have sent him to pigeon heaven……I’m in shock, I really don’t miss shots like that because of the time I put in on sighting in.
Tomorrow will be a different day for sure !!!!

Gave the Top hat less than 1/4 turn out ….made a huge difference. I was able to drop the PW from 7/8 to 3/8 and it upped the velocity about 40 fps. So now the Kodiaks are going out at ~1000 fps at about 2700psi down to about 2400 psi. I had to shelve the CPHP idea as the gun is just to powerful for that pellet the way I have this gun set up, so I went with JSB Jumbo heavies and they are leaving the barrel at ~1045fps … still very hot. The gun though is very quiet and not at all like it was yesterday morning without the “O” ring.

Got a 20 shot string that averages 966fps from 3000 downd to 2500. she will still give me good fps with 5 more shots, but that’s it.
That is with the PW set at 7/8, if I lowered the P/w to 5/8 I would have more air but I’m pushing the envelope for speed and power. I’m going to check out Chairgun tonight at dinner and see what a velocity of 875fs will do and how much of a difference that makes to my way of thinking. it would definitely be better for the CPHP’s I’m shooting !

Well I knew what had to be done, to much air, so I put on an “O” ring, turned down the Top Hat about 3/4 of a turn. My TT AR Grip frame came in and I installed that (easy peasy to install, looks great and stiffens up the frame) using a Hogue grip … works just great !
I then went out back to the range and shot at 2/8 on the PW using Kodiaks …850 fps … perfect, plenty of room to up the power. I turned the power wheel till I got the velocity I was looking for …. ~975 fps .. that is at 7/0 on the PW….why such a difference …well my stroke is a bit shorter ~.085 instead of .093) and the “O” ring takes the brunt on the hammer strike and so you need more power to push it, your air usage is less and very little hammer bounce if any.
I can tell you the difference in noise between this morning without the “O” ring and this afternoon with the “O” ring is dramatic …. a very, very big difference. This morning I could tell I was wasting LOTS of air, and again the gun was LOUD, even with the shroud !
I put in CPHP’s , they are going out at 1045-1075 fps …. a bit hot, but at long as they are reasonably accurate I can handle that. At 20 yds the Kodiaks are X ring center … the CPHP are about 1/2 inch high. Both are on at 65 yds according to ChainGun at these speeds.
Here is my 22 Condor in it’s finished form … nothing to fancy, no custom internals to speak of, just a factory gun with a custom grip is about all … I’m very happy with it !

You should snag a quick change tophat from Talontunes. Also with stock tophat in condor setup with .7 gap and .03 washer it shoots good. No tank dumps when I set it at that. Now the the qcth I use the same .03 washer and all is good with smallest insert in the TH.
Been out twice today … the first shot with CPHP at 5/8 on PW went 1165 and sounded like a 22. Kodiaks were all in the 1095 plus range too. Kept bringing the PW down and now it is at 2/0 and I’m still over 1000fps with both pellets.
Took her to the shop, and put in an “O” ring and tightened up the gap a bit. My pressure was 2800-3000 psi. It is very, very obvious she will push Kodiaks or Monsters in the ~975 area without breaking a sweat. The problem maybe trying to keep the CPHP’s from blasting through the sound barrier, I think the “O” ring trick may do it as the gun in testing sounded a lot quieter. The Kodiaks and the CPHP’s at 20 yards are all one little smashed area on my splash plate. When sighted in a 20 with a 3 in scope to mid-line barrel we have a 20-60,65 target zone with both pellets.
Here she is before her Hogue grips and TT AR adapter have been installed …. waiting for the TT Adapter now as it is out for delivery ;- )
As soon as the AR adapter arrives and I install, I’m back out to do some more velocity testing … we shall see !

I’ve tried a bunch of pellets. By far the JSB’s r the best I’ve used. From 14.9,15.8 and the 18.1. These have stopped everything I have shot at and r amazingly accurate.
