Q:

Filling Up My Buddies Condor And Then .. Bang !

I had taken my buddies Condor home this afternoon and took off the barrel, blue Lock-Tighted it along with all the other barrel screws firm but not TIGHT, if you know what I mean. I reset the Top Hat and put in an “O” ring. I was ready to do some testing for him today.

His pressure was about 2500 psi so I decided to get a testing for him I needed to bring it up to 3000 psi … well I hooked everything up and very slowly started to fill (as I always do) … when the very accurate liquid filled tank gauge hit about 2800psi … BANG !!!!!! the AirForce gauge blew the cover off right into my left shoulder …. scared the P%$#$$ out of me ! I’m just thankful it did not hit me in the eye !

I think maybe the burst disk is in the gauge and it blew….don’t know why I was not even at 3000psi ?

Has anyone had this happen with AirForce Gauges ? … should I change out the gauge ? ……

My buddy is just going to get another gauge and install it so We should be up and running soon ;- )

Well started to give my buddies tank after I installed a new Mc Master-Carr 0-4000 psi mini gauge. I fill got to 2800 psi and the 3000psi fill tank I was using at the office maxed out. So I started up the ShoeBox, put another 200psi in the fill tank and started to fill the Condor….. well as I was approaching 2800 I heard a little click near the filling tank gauge I thought and the pressure dropped to 2500psi in both tanks… no popping, no air leaks nothing, just a little click and the pressure dropped … what the heck.

I closed off the filling tank, bled the line and unplugged the line to the Condor tank… still at 2500psi.

That it with that gun. Told my buddy I don’t like the way this gun is behaving at all, and he needs to see the powers that be. I’m not playing around with 3000psi for sure !

I have been filling HPA tanks for a about 8 months or so and have not had issues like this tank. i have had leaks in my QB modifications but no problems on filling as I’m very carefull and go slow.

Hummmm !

Can’t say it happens very often. When dealing with HPA shit happens.

Call AF and tell them your experience

They are sending out a few new ones. The guy my buddy called is one of their main product testers so I’m sure he gave them the low down

I will install and go from there … but I will be wearing safety glasses for sure. ;- )

Have you heard of this happening before ? It is the first time I have heard of a gauge blowing … burst disk’s yes, but not a gauge !

PPE, always wear your safety glasses

Had my reading glasses on, but from now on it is safety glasses for sure…..of all the things I thought would not give way, it was the gauge blowing its cover off !

My buddy is contacting his Air Force dealer to be to see what he says !
