Q:

Dang Me, Dang Me, They Ought A Take a Rope And Hang Me ……

Went and bought a used Condor .25 cal with all the fix’ns ……. has Bull Dog stock, R&L Shroud, bi Pod, spin lock tank and a hard case. Gun is suppose to be in very, very good shape and a tack driver. The gun has the older safety, that has been pulled but he is including all the parts.

Says it groups like a monster. …As soon as I get it, I will take apart, blue Loc-Tite all the screws, put an “O” ring behind the Top Hat and go from there. This gun I think will be a long range varmint gun for sure. Pretty sure if I will set her up with King Heavies as I have a few places that there are no farms houses around for a couple of miles so starling shots are just fine when the angle is 30deg or more ! I just re-figured my other Condor and she is on at 20 and at 70 yds and 4 inches low at 90yds .. Give Me A Break ! …… these guns are crazy powerful and flat shooting. I can get the same ballistics with JSB Kings moving out around ~1000fps, but I have had such good luck with King Heavies in my other Condor 25 and we will see with this one ?

As far as a scope, I very well may go with a Weaver 4-16 Dot. That is not the thinking of today’s gun guys but if I know the ballistics, I know where the pellet is going and I’m not making corrections because of wind. The little target dot is pretty precise. scope will be mounted to where there is about a 3″ mid scope to mid bore distance …. plus I already own this scope so I don’t need to shell out another $$$ to buy another scope !

I think the Mad Dog stock will be out in the mail this week and she will be put together the minute she arrives. It will be one bad machine when it is together …… In effect a BR/varmint rifle.

My normal Condors are sighted in at 70 yards and it is a danger zone for predators and vermin from 20-80yds with my sight settings, having 45fpe at 80 yds just 2 inches low from my 70 yard zero. Aiming just 4 inches higher than my 80 yard mark and I’m on at 100yds with 40+fpe ….. not to shabby !

I will sight in using one sight range at 70yds as I mentioned – I know the rest of the a trajectories by heart. The one thing I won’t do is take a long shot at small animals (GS, Jack Rabbits, etc) as I don’t want to wound them. That is a long distance and the elements can play havoc with your ammo.

For me, in reality 70 yds is about the outer edge of my comfort zone … I would though take shots at starlings at further ranges as they are a P@S bird IMHO !

Took her out this late 3:45 pm afternoon at 106deg in the desert… was there for maybe 20 minutes to get this gun sighted in … and if I could and check the velocity. I shot at 20 yards and was 8 inches directly low … withing two shots I was on ;- ) I’m 6/1 on the Power Wheel scale and since I have an “O” ring I knew velocity would be slow, and it was … 740 fps. I took out the #50 Allen key and gave the top hat about 1/4 turn … velocity after the adjustment is ~950-975 …. perfect. I’m shooting JSB King Heavies as always with all my .25 cal Condors. All my .25 Condors have the same ballistics (hence the same trajectory and same point of aim) but this gun will have a Mad Dog stock for stability and more of a BR feel. This gun also has a Mueller 30mm tube 8×32 x 44 scope with a fine dot. All other Condors still have 30mm tubes so scope center to barrel center line distance is the same.

I might add the trigger on this gun is very, very nice and will be fine for BR shooting if I so decide.

Mad Dog stock will be shipped tomorrow, and scheduled to be in my hands on Monday ;- ) The adventure continues ;- )

Here is a pic, I got the stock on Saturday instead of Monday ;- ) This is an awesome gun

I will put some foam between the stock and the tank, but the gap may be enough for a 53cc tank that I will be getting … we will see. As you can see she is waiting for early morning Jacks ;- )

Well deal went south in a major way …. First time ever, UPS absolutely destroyed the gun…. Huge deep scratches on the barrel shroud on both sides and the Mad Dog stock was broken.

Everything on the inside of the case was all over the place . ….. Needles to say I returned the gun and the seller and I came to an agreement, case closed.

But, I found a as new Condor in .25 for a great price and will receive that on this Monday…. Yes I did insure it 🙂 I will order a Mad Dog stock for this gun as it will be a bench rest varmint gun. I very well may put a 53cc tank on this gun too, but not sure yet.

This gun is not a walk around the field gun for sure, I will put my 8×32 target dot Mueller scope on this gun, and like the field Condors I have this gun will be sighted in at 70 yds, as this gives me the best trajectory with the velocity I’m shooting (950-975 fps) and the pellet I’m using (JSB King Heavy, 34gr).

To be continued after I get the gun.

Got the “used” Condor in and she is a beautiful gun … looks brand new, not a mark or scratch on her. Had a CP 4×16 scope on her, took that off mounted my Mueller 30mm tube 8×32 and put blue Loc-Tite on all barrel screws, added an “O” ring under the Top Hat and also added a R&L barrel shroud.. Put her back in the hard case the gun came in … a perfect case for my use ! Here she is waiting for her new Mad Dog outfit ;- )

My Mad Dog stock will be an Ultima Long, RH, 6 Inch Picatinny rail and have a bench leg.

Wow, that sucks.

Insurance is to protect the seller and is their responsibility to get it to you in undamaged.

One of the few times I did not insure something … lesson learned big time.

MY new “Used Gun” looks good though, only shot maybe 1/2 tin of pellets and still has tag on tank. Gun is in big plastic gun case with lots of paper on the inside and that is put in another box wrapped in packing paper also ….. tight … The travel distance is less than 6 hours away so it does not have to travel across country. he shipped it Friday afternoon and I’m scheduled to receive it Monday, a good thing !
