Q:

Can i swap Cricket wood stock with skeleton stock?

I have a a Cricket .25 wood.
Do they make the skeleton stock anymore, is it interchangeable with my stock without any mods, and if so, who carries them?
I’m looking to put it on a diet, and figure this would trim some fat.
Thanks for your knowledge.

Hi Cricket,
I got ahold of Michal. Gonna have him build me one of his lightweight stocks.
Thanks for the info!

Cricket,
I’m in the USA.
I like my Hawke Tac 6.5-20×42, but it weighs 26 oz.
Looking for variable X-16? Not FFP. Less than 20 oz.
Budget’s under $500.
Thanks

If you could give Me some requirements I can have a look. Such as variable or fixed power, SFP or FFP, how much magnification, budget, etc.

I’ve owned these scopes:

UTG Swat 3-12 – poor turrets but surprisingly nice scope for the money, very heavy for what it is.

Delta Optical Titanium 6-24×42 ao – nice glass up to about 20x but not higher, lightweight at only 500 grams but boring standard mildot reticle. Great turrets.

Hawke SW 8-32×56 – Huge scope and weighs a ton, turrets are crappy but warranty is Good. Way to big and heavy for a pup

Hawke SW Tactical 8,5-25×42 – better in weight and size yet still very heavy, mine was defective. Turrets are crappy.

Delta Optical Titanium 4,5-30×50 – good scope, great glass and really nice turrets, reticle MCZII good for paper punch.

Delta Optical Titanium 4,5-14×44 FFP – great scope, light for a FFP and good turrets, clarity and brightness is superb. But reticle is too damn thick at anyting above 10x.

The best turrets in order of how they feel:

Delta 6-24
Delta 4,5-30
Delta 4,5-14
Hawke SW
UTG

I currently own no scopes, they are all sold and I have ordered 2 SWFA 12×42 Fixed power scopes with the Milquad reticle. They are made in japan like the Delta series.

Weight of the Deltas if I remember correctly

6-24 – 500 grams
4,5-30 – 764 grams
4,5-14 – 667 grams

Weight of the Hawke Sidewinders

8-32 – 990 grams
8,5-25 – can’t remember

As you can see I am still looking for “my” scope. At the moment I just want something nice and robust that will simply work, aka Fixed power. No need to check what magnification you are at and save weight.

If you don’t mind me asking, where are you located? I am in Sweden.

What scope do you have? A good way to loose weight is with a lightweight scope, scopes made in Japan and germany are much lighter than chineese scopes with similar specs.

Cricket,
I have a Hawke tac 30 and really like it.
I’m open to suggestions for a lighter scope. When I’ve spent any time looking, I haven’t found any scopes that were that much lighter.

Turbo, not sure of the weight difference between the wood and synthetic stocks of the current design, but I took a saw, dremel tool, file and sandpaper to my synthetic stock and removed 1.1 pounds of plastic from it on my .25 cal. I also have a .22 cal. that came with the skeleton stock. It has one mounting screw. I took a 2 screw synthetic stock and swapped them out. I’m not sure they made the 2 screw skeleton stocks, but IF you can find one, it should fit your current gun regardless of which generation it is… at least mine fit. :8: Top gun is the .25 with the modified synthetic stock. Bottom gun is the .22 with standard synthetic stock.

Thanks SaltWater,
I’m not handy with tools, and have wood stock, not synthetic (wood’s supposed to be lighter than synthetic).
Damn, your tweaked stock looks nice. I followed your thread on the process, and am impressed.
After further research, looks like the skeleton stock is history.
I’ll keep my eyes open.

That’s pretty cool salt

There is a one question. How many screws do you have in your stock? If one you can swap it easily 😛
