Q:

Michal Osyda walnut Mutant stock

My nine month odyssey courtesy of USPS and customs is finally over. Last October I saw Dman1114’s thread about this custom stock maker and decided to have a walnut replacement stock built for my Mutant. Like lots of other Mutant owner’s my problem was never the feel of the factory stock or its shape. I just like quality wood and nicely finished stocks. I requested Mr. Osyda to make a factory style stock in walnut. It was completed in early October after just two weeks. I received tracking information upon shipment but the stock went into a black hole when it reached U.S. customs. U.S. customs ignored tracing requests from the buyer and shipper for four months. Mr. Osyda refunded my money and that seemed to be the sad end of this lost shipment. Last weekend he contacted me to say the stock was returned to him with no prior notice nine months later. USPS had his return address the whole time and yet it took nine months to return the stock in spite of all of our tracing requests getting no answers. Taking no chances a second time I paid for UPS Express Saver shipping and got the stock from Poland to my home in just 4 days.

Mr. Osyda has a website and can build custom stocks as he has for SECoda and others. The walnut stock he built matches the quality of the rest of the rifle. The Mutant is the quietest most accurate and well designed bullpup I’ve ever seen. The only missing element was woodwork befitting the quality of the rifle. I’m glad the long wait was not in vain. Moral of the story: spend a few bucks extra and don’t have your shipment go into a black hole at U.S. customs or USPS if you want your overseas shipment in a reasonable time frame.

This is about it on information. Give him some time to respond. He can do a lot but wood availability can be an issue. OMG another Sir on the forum? :suprisedn:

Yes the buttpad came with the stock.
I got a adjustable one.

great stock, did the buttpad come with the stock?

Since i never carry it around i did not. Guessing, I would say it is a few ounces heavier or about the same. Not lighter.

The heavy part of the gun, though, is the Aeon 10-40 scope (maybe 29 ozs with wheel add-on lol) I guess but I love it at 36x with that Trajectory reticle. For a Chinese scope it is pretty clear. I nailed three sparrows late yesterday evening in pretty low light. I was lucky to get a very clear one. I can make out very clearly and up close the whiskers on a chipmunk at 40 yards and see the surprise on his face. lol There is very little difference from my $1400 8-32×56 NSF NightForce at max power. Sad but true. At greater distances (over 100 yards) and in very low light you can notice very slight differences but who cares. I didn’t even pay for the Aeon directly. It was the freebie from WAGG.

That’s a pretty stock, Did you ever weigh both stocks to compare?

Playing with settings trying to get my Samsung phone to take a picture closer to reality. Flash seems to help.

This baby has nicely continued the fur and feather bath in the backyard. 😉

Congrats man, gorgeous stock :8:

That Mutant really looks like the Ultimate Pocket Bullpup :8:

Looks almost like an Secret Service UZI 😀

I just put Mahoney’s filtered walnut oil on my stocks. If I can ever get my hands on a Short Mutant .177 I will try to get the exact same stock shape and some nice wood from Michal again.

Not sure why but my Samsung Galaxy S6 really lightens up the stock and grain in pictures. Michal must use a professional camera in his photos because that is much closer to what the stocks look like in person. Strange. The stock actually has darker grains running through both sides as you can see more on Michal’s picture on the right side. I might try a taking pictures of it with my slo-mo Casio camera and see what happens or a video with my Mobius cameras in 1080P and youtube it.

Man congrats for your stock :8:

They are getting nicer and nicer and that little gem deserves it.

Please share some pictures.

Michal shipped mine UPS International Express (we were going to use FedEx equivalent but Michal didn’t have my phone number which they require) per my request. It cost more (+$50) but the stock took exactly three business days to reach me in a small town in Missouri once Michal shipped it from his small home town in Poland. The tracking was very good for that method. It flew through US customs in approximately half a day. My entire order including emailing back and forth with Michal as I decided what I wanted took less than a month. I will do the next one exactly the same way. The express shipping whether FedEx or UPS gets special handling nearly everywhere. I have had motorcycle accessories from Japan and Thailand get lost in the black hole using the slow boat method.

For my RC hobby I get stuff regularly from China direct in about a week now not even using express.

$50 was nothing to avoid the nightmare and since I had Michal upgrade the grade of walnut he used – I didn’t want to lose this baby to damage or whatever. You still get what you are willing to pay for. 😉

Shorty Mutant

Looks very nice dinger.
You must have been the guy, who just sold off his
Taipan stock on the yellow form then. 🙄
