Q:

What’s the min fps for accuracy?

I want to use JSB 15.9 or 18.1, at what min fps can I achieve the best accuracy? Most of my shooting is leaves at 50y or less. I want to shoot at min fps because of more shot count and I do not need the power just to shoot leaves or any pest birds at 50y or less. As of now, I have set to shoot it at 20ftlbs on 15.9g around 750fps.

I am just an average shooter, can achieve dime size 40% of the time depend on wind conditions.

thanks,

Thank you Uncle Hoot!

There is no such thing as minimum velocity for “accuracy”.

However, at 50 yards/meters you are really stretching the ability of the pellet to retain enough speed/rotation down range to obtain a consistent trajectory with each shot at speeds lower than 750 fps. Conditions would need to be nearly perfect.

Pellet velocity is only one “accuracy” factor. This does not consider altitude, temperature, humidity, wind direction/speed, barrel quality, consistent pellet quality, type of gun bench/rest, shooter ability, variations in individual eyesight, scope quality, time of day, etc…etc…

Looking at speed alone, “accuracy” generally favors generous amounts of energy propelling the pellet/slug.
