HW97K and Deadshot pod groups

Shooting any kind of distance is challenging here; it’s basically a temperate jungle on a slope.

You carve out a temporary shooting lane before the vegetation buries it all. A lot of earth moving would be needed to get a proper bench setup. So, a tripod/fieldpod is often handy. Trouble is, springers bounce too much for them. I don’t know if it’s the prong surface or the tripod legs, but a number of rifles with a little “kick” have accuracy issues. After confirming the HW97K did not like the Caldwell Magnum Fieldpod, as made, I tried adding a bit of egg crate foam (like guns are shipped in and in many rifle cases) to the front prong.

At 35 yds, the results were much better, not EBR, but close…
