Had a BLAST With my DAD, SON Squirrel Hunting, Thanks to Rich P.
My dad is out here visiting us from PA, and also to install shelving in our SoCal store.
Rich P. offered to take us squirrel hunting (depredation on a ranch). Initially my dad didn’t want to go because he wants to make sure the shelves get installed. I told Dad one of the most fond memories I have is of him, my oldest son Joey III, and myself going goose hunting in Maryland when Joey was only 4 years old. My dad is a very healthy 81 and loves to hunt, but he also wants to help me with the shelving. While my dad loves to hunt and shoot, he basically refused to go, so he could install the shelves. I said to him the business will be here in 30 years and the shelves might still be there, but the memories we make of 3 generations hunting together will never go away and the time to make them is limited. Boy, did that statement come true, and he didn’t regret it.
This time the 3 generations were my dad with my youngest boy, Jonathan (we’re having his 10th B-day party today!) and me. Both boys love to shoot, but Jonathan has REALLY taking a liking to it. When Jonathan comes to the shop, he’s always asking if he can shoot. (Mental note: Triple size of shop and add larger shooting lane for Jonathan) 🙂
Rich, my dad, and Jonathan were shooting off a table. I used my Chevy bumper to steady my shots. Rich and Jonathan were nailing everything, and my dad was having more fun just watching my son. Eventually Dad started shooting too.
Dad was using my .22 AZ Rapid (he’s shooting my .25 in the picture below), Jonathan a (now his) Mutant, and I my .25 AZ Rapid. All 3 were truly lasers. My best shot made me smile at 113 yards. All I could see sticking out of a hole in the ground were 2 eyes and a head (not even the neck). I was sighted in for that range and I took the shot, and immediately he went back in. I figured I missed a tiny bit enough to make him go back in his hole, but then immediately afterward he flopped out of the hole dead as could be. Instant kill!
Jonathan must have said at least 4 times “this is the best day of my life”. Rich P. – Thank you for these Memories

I remember at the age of 3 my dad took me and my brother shooting for the first time in my life . He helped me to hold the pistol
in my hands and helped me to pull the trigger and shoot at the target . My dad was an avid hunter and more than likely an avid
poacher in order to feed his family of 7 back in 1954 . For two years my dad would take both me and my older brother by 11 months
with him shooting and hunting with him , my dad died in 1956 while serving our country in the U.S. Airforce when his plane a C-129
crashed after take off at Travis A.F.Base in California . Amazing as it seems at the age of 65 , I can close my eyes and still see and
remember all of the love my dad gave to me and my brother in our early years of life and both my brother and I served as snipers
in the U.S. Army . Today we both enjoy the sport of shooting all types of guns including PCP Air Guns .
