Bolt sealing O ring
Hi Guys,
Just a quick question, after a few hundred shots thru my R3M .22, my new offset moderator arrived along with some other spares…. Thanks Ed.. Getting the offset mod on was easy (following Eds video). Now once I got this far and literally had the gun in parts, I decided to reassemble and degass the gun with the Allen wrench method against the hammer… Huge puff of air (to be expected!).
Now I seem to have blown out the bolt probe o ring and is no where to be seen. Do I have to now disassemble the whole gun to get to the brass bushing that seats the o ring? Also my main question on this topic is that I can’t find a 5.1 x 1.6mm oring here in the regular ships that sell these. I did find a 5.2 x 1.78. Will this work to seal the bolt probe?
Any advice will be appreciated.

The easiest way to replace the O-ring is to buy a small wood dowel, slide it down the muzzle. Then put a little moly-kote, diver’s grease or something similar on the O-ring (non petroleum based) fold the O-ring in half and slide it past the brass breech ring. A set of dental picks from Harbor freight are very helpful. Keep the wood dowel right at the end where the barrel starts and the brass ring begins. Take your dental pick and set the O-ring in the space between the barrel and brass breech piece. The wooden dowel will prevent the O-ring from sliding past the breech.
It’s really simple.
The brass ring sits on top of the regulator exhaust port, I personally think that delrin does a better job sealing than the OEM brass ring. I know you’re in South Africa so it might be simpler to buy a few delrin regulator/breech seals.
In the future always degas the gun with the upper receiver separated from the air tube.
