Does the .25 caliber Lelya really exist?

Mine maxed out at 765fps with only adjusting the HST.

Here’s a bit more information regarding HST adjustment:
Base adjustment: 659 FPS (as above)
+1 Rev: 706 FPS
+2 Rev: 723 FPS
So there’s a bit of wiggle room with spring tension.
The thing that stands out about Lelya is that it’s just fun to shoot. Lelya is always the favorite of the party. Everyone, ladies included, want to shoot it…

Might I suggest you try some of the light .25 caliber pellets on the market? I found some that weigh 18-19gr and I’ll bet your accuracy and performance would greatly improved.
Just because it shoots heavy .25 pellets doesn’t mean it has to…try some lighter ammo and see the improvement! Bigger isn’t always better, but lighter is always faster. Getting your velocity up into the 800 fps range would make all the difference in the world in that little gun. It would then have the much better .22 caliber fps/fpe.

Here’s a bit of data from a MagnetoSpeed chrony on a .25 Lelya shooting JSB 25.39s. I’ve made no changes to the gun as shipped, except to re-crown the barrel. At the point of this test, it has fired 400 or so rounds. Starting tank pressure was 200 bar.
Using a Vortex red-dot sight, accuracy has been very good at 25 to 40 yards.
FPS for 5 shots:
Max 662
Min 655
Average 659
S-D 2.6

Well…it wasn’t exactly “MY” kidney, it came from my dog.
Toshik refused to take it as down payment for a .25 Lelya because he said it “smelled funny!” So I never got a .25 Lelya. And, the damn dog bites me every time I get close…
Ed once promised me a .22 Lelya he had shown at a gun show, but I never saw it. I’m pretty certain “Ted” got it instead. Ed claimed he took it back to Russia for “modifications”. Being elderly and feeble, I was unable to take a bus to Russia and confront him regarding his broken promise.

The .25 Lelya is a great little gun. I was curious about its potential pellet speed. But no one on this forum was posting any results about it’s potential speed and energy. I found that to be odd…usually receiving a new edition of any “Edgun” results a lot of commentary.
Sometimes I will mix a bit of bullshit in with my comments, just to stir up a conversation. As a result, I now know the Lelya can reach at least 722 feet per second. Thank you for posting those comments.
You will all be pleased to know that I no longer weep for .25 Lelya owners. I only weep now because I don’t own a .25 Lelya…but that’s my problem.

My Dad’s .25 Lelya shot an average of 722fps out of the box.
Well, I talked about Matador, but I found out the same for Veles and Lelya in .22 🙂 I got more instant death at the distance up to 50 meters with Veles .22, 1.175 grams 220 m/sec rather then with Matador .22, 1.175 grams 280 m/sec. Yes, with Matador they were dead also, but could run out for few dozens meters.

Since 250 Meters per Second = 820 Feet per Second, I agree with Ed…that’s a fine speed for hunting.
The .25 Lelya owner’s article said his speed was much lower: “Pellet speeds: JSB King 1,645g (25,39gr) 210m/s (689 fps)
210 meters per second is fine for short range paper target shooting, excellent accuracy can be achieved at that speed. However, it is not a pellet speed I am comfortable with if shooting live game or pests that weigh five to 10 pounds.
So, my question remains…can the .25 Lelya be adjusted to a minimum of 228 meters per second, or 750 fps?

Totally agree with that. I have experienced the same when hunting with both 22 and 25 cal.
Based on my experience the slow speed for hunting is better then high speed as with “normal” speed of 280 m/sec with JSB KIng 1.645 I have pellet goes trhough up to 80 meters at any angle and the bird isn’t kill instantly, when I have 250-260 m/sec the % of “dead at place” shots is higher.

Not “Accuracy”…have your antennas gone numb? “Performance” as in FPS/FPE…it can only shoot in the in the mid-600 FPS range with 25 grain pellets. From experience, I want at least in the mid to upper 700 FPS range for any caliber. What value is a .25 caliber if you get .177 performance with expensive pellets?
As feared, the .25 under performs…better to stick with .22 or even heavy .177 caliber pellets for that little gun.
It’s a paper target gun at those speeds. Has no one tuned it for better performance? I can’t believe that’s the best it can do.
Strap on a “pair” if you don’t own your own, then get your pliers out and adjust something!
