Latest pic of my Cricket Comp 177, just dialed her down to 805 fps with JSB 10.34g.

Man your Compact looks good Greg. Is that a fatboy in the background? What gun is it on? I definitely like the mat finish better than the CF.

Sorry for crappy pic, I’ve got mine shooting in the 890 fps area with 10,34gr

Congrads Cricket, that is a real nice pup. Im pretty sure your going to enjoy that Compact in 177.

Cool, didn’t know that. But the scope rings are different height. Same brand but one is high and one medium. The high work excellent with cheek piece and the medium work excellent without.

If u use the same scope and rings on both u can tune them to the same trajectory.

22 with 18g to 880 fps and the 177 with 10.34g to 890 fps.

Very nice!

I recently acquired a like-new used Cricket Compact .177. I have not shot it yet but I wanted a .177 in my collection as well. Will be interesting to see what I can do wih it at 50m for sure

I’m in agreement with Sam regarding the 177 cals.

For me it seems to go through feathered fowl easier, some are feathered so thick that’s like armor where I’m at.
The 22 cal more for furry game/pest, but still useful for everyday pesting at longer ranges.

My 177 Cricket speed loader for up to 6 mags at a time in less then a minute ……. …

I’m not selling my Cricket 177 Compact, ever !

When I 1st got into PCP’s I figured 22 cal would be as small as I would go. For a couple of years I was happy with that decision but then wanted to try Field Target. 177 is the caliber of choice for FT and most Bench Rest competitions.

At 50 yards and closer I use a 177 almost all the time unless hunting or its real windy. 177 is quieter, uses less air, pellets are cheaper and if you miss damage is minimal compared to a 22 or 25. For backyard plinking or hunting chipmunks/rats/starlings at 50 yards and closer I use a 177 almost all the time. Practicing with a 177 in windy conditions has helped me be come a better shooter.

That said I bet 75 – 80% of my shooting is with a 177. The negative is they are smaller and harder to handle. If you buy a 177 I recommend getting one that has a non mechanical magazine. I found loading mechanical magazines to be a time consuming PITA compared to the non mechanical.

I really would like to add a 177 to my PCP guns , I am really hopping the mutant will come out with a 177 short, 1,100 bucks is a good price to start at with a new gun, I backed off the 177 cricket shorts when they came out at 1,500 bucks , I know they jacked the price up because the short supply, Back in the day for 40 years I would not own nothing but a 177 , The PCP guns changed my old ways :fishing:
