Grandsons pet Bull snake, ( Fred) Mutant materal
My four year old Grand son is Mason, Fred is the bull snake I keep for him, Yep Pa Pa Mike keeps Fred, Have you priced a mouse, 4.95 and you have to sigh papers that you are not going to hurt the mouse, So I got a sparrow trap, The young dumb ones get in the trap and I feed the snake,
Well nesting season is over so the old ones wise and all go in and out the trap all day…
Lots of trial and error here, No 25 caliber, 22 Caliber and 16 gr works pretty good got to take a glancing off back shot The call to the 22 Mutant is perfect , My 22 Cricket shoots 18 gr pellets a lot hotter at about 940 FPS and just makes to big of a mess , and Fred goes not like his birds bloody. He has got to think they are still alive, Snakes do not eat dead things, Unless you trick them like I do. Dead but not blown to parts, Time is a factor , You can not feed a cold bird to a snake so you only got about one to two minutes to prepare the bird, Take wings off and tail feathers (no meat) , Open cage place bird on foot long stick and make like its trying to get away.

Its a major mistake to feed from hand as he will (fred) see your hand and think its feeding time..

Oh Fred is a very gentle snake , he likes to be held , He is about 3 1/2 feet long and growing fast,

Frozen mice will not work for me , I have to keep rat poison out 24/7 ,
I also raise Box turtles and the rats will eat the baby’s
I also have seven motorcycles that if a mouse or rat eats my wiring or builds a nest in my air box , It becomes big money..
Not a chance of lead poison, Pellets pass through of best a glancing shot off the back,
On the Euro doves I feed my Turtles I have to pluck the feathers and I always check for a exit wound,
Your Python may be big enough to eat a Euro dove?

I have a Ball Python for a pet, in my office. She (?) only gets dead critters that have been thawed and heated in a windowsill or next to a Leopard Gecko’s heat lamp. If you check mouse traps 2x a day, they can be frozen (kills fleas/parasites) in a jar and thawed. I use those super-sized forceps to hold the dead mouse by the tail and keep my hands away.
Now, my mother in law didn’t like finding jar-o-mice in the freezer! She screamed pretty loudly when she found the frozen Copperhead (coiled in a lifelike pose) on a paper plate. (I did that to teach/show the neighbor’s kids what a real copperhead looks like.) Oh yeah, and then there was the frozen Flying squirrel I saved for a friend who wanted to make a museum specimen.
After a few screaming episodes, she decided to stay out of our freezer!
Anyway, if the freeze>warm works on your pet, it might not be a bad method to help kill parasites like fleas, ticks, bird lice, etc. Those things tend to leave the dead critter quickly, and if you’re nearby…
