Q:

Do you use illumination?

Do you have Illuminated reticle and if so, do you use it? Or is it just an unnecessary thing that adds weight to the scope?

Hi again

Doing night shooting now.
I use a Ward D700 nv add on . Simplicity itself, pop it on to the rear of your scope, carrying on shooting as normal until light has totally gone. Then fit IR toch to top of scope and carry on.
Ok for ambush shooting.

Really depends on your shooting.
I’ve made use of IR when darkness set in and the sope’s brightness got down to the point where the reticle didn’t stand out anymore crearly from the target. In this situation it’s a helpful feature.
It doesn’t help in turn when your target doesn’t stand out from it’s background.
If you’re hunting, you might make use of it more often (dim light in woods) than if you’re punching paper or cans.
Merry Christmas

There has been times when it was getting dark and I missed a shot and I wished I would have turned it on
my 6×16-50 Hawke puts a little red dot, very tiny right in the middle
My Viper lights the whole thing up,
And my favorite one is the one I am shooting,

Hi Cricket

Think a personal thing depending on your shooting and eyesight. In some conditions helpful maybe. Do the military or SWAT teams use ILl. Ret. ? Don’t know but doubt it.
Try maybe with and without scopes at a dealer. Buy the best optics you can afford , the bells and whistles eat into the quality of the optics and turrets. Cheaper in the long run to buy quality then a box full of also rans as I have done .

Have fun
