I disagree on the part about Air Arms valves not being the best, at least with the S410/S400 series of rifles. Though not the best, they are one of the best valves. Without being regulated, these guns produce some of the most consistent shots ever and with just as tight an extreme spread as some of the fine regulated guns out there, provided you are shooting within the region of the gun’s power curve where velocities are stable. I think this consistency is possible due to the long brass air-to-firing valve port in combination with a properly matched spring (tension) and hammer (weight). For those who own an S410 and have taken apart the air tube, you probably noticed that the air channel from the brass piece that is part of the valve system has quite a decent air channel length to it, and a narrow one too. I believe the tight passage of air, which the channel stores ready for discharge, is what makes the shots so consistent. In a sense, the air residing within this channel is somewhat crudely regulated, all without a standalone regulator unit.
