Talon tunes top hat questions
I’ve had a ttth and love it when shooting 25 caliber pellets but I have installed a 24 inch barrel in 22 caliber. My curiosity has me as the tophat came with a little note to use a insert when using 22 caliber. Do I still need to use the insert if I’m using eunjin, jsb monsters or jsb beast pellets in 22??? Has anyone done this? Are there 22 caliber rat sniper type pellets out there that I can use??? :fishinghole:

My gun shoots accurate as a slingshot. Should I be putting a washer under the TT top hat? Even at near zero on the power wheel the shots land crazy.
Anybody in St. Louis could maybe help me figure out this gun?

Stay heavy on the pellets. I dropped down as far as 14 gr just to see how fast i could make a pellet go. Was actually wasting tons or air with lighter pellets. Jsb 25.4 , ej 28 or 32 work good also.

You need to keep the pellets under 1000 FPS (shoot :biggrinn: for around 950-975 max) So the insert and pellet have to match to make that speed. Make sense because I know I do not half the time 😉
What would be the Lightest pellets in 22 caliber to shoot out with the talon tunes top hat without any inserts? I tried a polymag with the insert but I don’t know how well the skirt held up with that much pressure.
The note for the .22 not going wide open is for 5 grain super light pellets. Some of the new people think they will get 2000 FPS and blow holes in engine blocks if they use them. :biggrinn:
I fill to 3000psi no washers stock hammer. What power wheel settings you have? Where you order the 45 grain slugs? I think that with the insert that is is the most open the tophat is still letting more air through over the factory one. You have links to YouTube videos on tophat?
Dude search my threads! You can go wide open and up to 3600 psi with 32 gr ej IF you put a washer under the top hat down to .020 thickness. I have taken my 22 cal condor to 103+ fpe with 45 gr slugs.
On a 22 cal with the ttqc tophat you will probably dump the tank with no spacer under the tophat. Tanks dumps suck and will scare the poo out of you the first time. I had to repaint the wall bahind my shooting position after my first tank dump. Also check out my youtube. Ondbaddj. Lots of videos of fails and progress.
I think if you use really heavy pellets you should be fine.

Emwak, Check your top hat also. Mine cracked on the bottom and was causing issues.
Take a look at the hammer spring, they come with a white tag on them and call it a spring silencer. I know mine would get boogered up every now and then and cause erratic shooting. Remove that.
What pellets have you tried? My talondor was stupid pellet picky. After a ton of tinkering I got it to shoot the 25 gr jsb and 18 gr. Most others still suck to the point I cannot consistently hit a 50 cal ammo can at 25 yards. That was very frustrating. Wish I was there to help tinker with it. Its a hell of a lot cheaper fixing and tuning other people guns. lol
