Why Go Slow?
I’m having Condor accuracy trouble – described in other threads.
Side question — what’s the problem with going hypersonic? I mentioned internet talk of needing to keep things subsonic with a pellet and he questioned it based on his .223 shooting thousands of feet per second just fine. Similar grains too?

The accuracy of the condor is dismal and I don’t have time or expertise to figure out what’s wrong.
It has the top hat from Tony (no insert) and a drop down tank and that’s about it in terms of what could be different than stock. I did not mess with washers or o rings.
Is there any sense in going with a .257 barrel and casting boat tails? Or is that just asking for more accuracy trouble?
Or, better off finding somebody to send the gun to and letting a pro figure out how to get it shooting right?
I have little interest in having a .25 maurader that shoots straight out of the box, and also owning a .25 condor that can’t go any faster, is louder and single shot vs. clip. The ONLY reason I got the condor was for more velocity and therefore power. If I have to shoot the Condor at the same velocity as the Maurauder to get it to shoot straight I don’t want the gun.
Jsbs really don’t like it over 900 fps. It’s just the design of the pellets. I’m running 34 gr king heavy at 890 fps average and make groups like this are 50 yards.

Depending on how much power i want is what determins fps. In springers i usually run them between 850-950. Pcp is easier to tailor and much more adjustable.
What pellet, gun, pressure, barrel legth, are you runni g and what are you looki g to achieve?
What cal. do you have and what grain pellet are you using?
That video is about barrel twist rates primarily. But he talks a little about the way a pellet moves through the air and goes into airgun physics in an easy to understand way. When a pellet goes too fast it creates turbulence behind the skirt and this is bad for accuracy. One great feature of the AirForce and other quality guns is that you can change the velocity to get in the sweet spot for accuracy with your favorite pellet.
I see my groups start to open up over around 900-950 fps.
shape of the projectile is what decides sub or hyper sonic. pellet= sub, boat tail=hyper.

Pellets(Diablo shaped) tumble when going transonic, that is why the hunters and long range air gunners are using bullets, not pellets.
