Q:

14" barrel mutant shorty ?

is it true that there a 14″ barrel on the new shorty and not the 11″ if so i like that …. and what size barrel is on the standard 17″ ?

if there is a 14″ barrel how do i get one i’m buying a shorty or standard by the end of the month but don’t like the 11″ barrel that much i was going to go with the standard for more power 890-900 fps would like my .22 to shoot some 16-18gr most of the time but would like to try heavy so maybe 3″ would give me 30fps more and that would put the shorty at about 850ish i think and it would have a little more shroud yes… more quiet ?
also is the standard quieter than the shorty with fatboy ldc on both …. i have a lefty neighbor that pees her pants every time she hears me .. the cops say i’m fine just don’t want her stinking up her house peeing all the time ……i was going to get the warp but can’t seem to find out if the warp .22 with a good ldc is anywhere as quiet as the mutant

anyway 14″ barrel i know i read some where last night that the new ones have this i’m trying to find it but read so much last night just don’t remember where
any help

The original shorty’s that came into the usa let’s call them “pre-cz” shortys..

They had a 300 mm barrel, and used a adapter at the end of the barrel that doubled as a bushing (the Korean barrels were 14mm).

Since the barrel clamps were designed for the 15mm barrel they didn’t need a bushing anymore so it was one less part to make ..

When they switched to cz.. they already had all the parts needed for the shroud cause they shortened he standard shroud and used the same parts just shortened the baffles spacers.

Anyhow the pre cz were 300mm and the cz now is 350mm

Also the manufacture sent out replacement cz barrels for the defective Korean barrels … so there are cz’s barrels of the 300 mm size.

Either way I wouldn’t worry… just as long as the gun is accurate. My shorty is set up at 865 -870 fps and I get in excess of 35 shots. (Haven’t ran a full string yet) and it has the shorter 300 barrel.

The 1.968 inches difference isn’t really as big as some people make it out to be. And honestly there is more room to quiet it down cause you don’t have 50mm of barrel sticking inside you ldc.

I’m perfectly happy with mine are many others…

I just measured mine, the barrel is, indeed 14″ long.

If you want more power or less report, the standard is the way to go. I like the Shorty because it has a shorter OVL and the LOP is also shorter. You can still fit a Fatboy over the standard for some extra hush.
