Q:

Male QD hose plug?

Greetings,

I’m just getting back into pcp airguns and have put together an F10 compressor, dmann filter, and humidity indicator. The filter and humidity indicator needs to be kept sealed when not in use, and it would be convenient to use a male fosters QD fitting to plug the end of the hose. I believe the diablo desiccant filter comes with such a plug, which just looks like a male fosters that’s solid instead of having a hole through it.

I’ve looked everywhere I can think of, but I haven’t been able to find such a plug. Has anyone seen those for sale anywhere? I guess the other question would be whether those would really seal well enough with no pressure on them?

Thanks,
Rusty

I use a 1/2 inch cross section of an old skinny bicycle tire inner tube. Color matches the gun, it protects perfectly, no stressing of the port, never falls off and I can get 50 of them out of one tube. Give it a try.

One thing that might be an issue in this application (sealing off a humiddity indicator and filter) is that the foster dead head will be a seal only when under pressure. Without pressure the o-ring won’t be engaged tightly and humidity could seep by. I’m going with line valves, but still figuring out how to physically configure without over stressing fittings with weight.

“Dead-head” seems to be the key word here. I knew there had to be a proper term for this, and that’s probably why I couldn’t find it in my searches. Thanks for the links and the proper name!

Of course right after ordering from air tanks Plus I found this- http://www.pyramydair.com/s/a/Air_Venturi_G6_Test_Plug/6682

Thanks for the link. Nice to know there’s at least one option. If I can’t find one in the US, I’ll definitely check to see what the shipping would be on these.

Cheers,
Rusty
