Q:

Convert Talon SS to "Condor"

Hi Guys

First I’d like to apologize if this has been covered elsewhere. I tried searching, but it’s difficult to get the exact answer I’m looking for.

Let me explain my setup.
Talon SS on MadDog Ultima Short Stock
12″ Barrel in .22
Talon Tunes 6″ LDC
TT Hammer w/Slap mod.

The hammer is on it’s way and I anticipate installing it this weekend. I ordered it a couple days ago before I saw the Condor Review and Giveaway. I had no clue Condor’s could push 70FPE. Now I must have one!

To convert to a Condor, I add a weight to the TT Talon Hammer w/Slap Mod and change the valve on my tank to a Condor valve? Do I need to change out the spring as well?

Now I know good and well that putting a Condor-weight hammer and valve on a 12″ barrel will only waste air. I’ve got an 18″ 22 on pre-order from PA that I’m waiting on. Once that arrives, I’ll be permanently switching the barrels in favor on the 18″. Didn’t plan on installing the Condor stuff until the barrel arrives but I’d like to start gathering all the parts I need now.

Thanks!

Hey Guys , originally had a talon ss in .25.  Recently I went with an 18 inch barell a donny suppressor.  I am running the condor hi flow valve and top hat. I’ve been runn8ng it this way for some time and I’m happy with it .  Being like most of you guys I can’t keep my hands off . I just ordered a condor hammer weight. At 8 on power wheel I notice more power but it’s going thorough air fast from 3k to 2k in like 10 shots. Is this normal or should I not use hammer weight . Just looking fir good power and decent air use.

What pressure are you running your gun at? I have a talondor i have run an 18 in 22 and now have a 12 in 25 cal barrel on. Have regged it at 2000 psi and now run 3400 psi. Photo bucket is not working right now or would attach photos. If you do it right a condor can break the 100 fpe mark. This plat form is nuts and tons of fun. Stock spring, condor hammer, condor valve with 22 cal 18 in barrel will shoot fine on 3000 psi with the power wheel set low to 0. At 3400 psi i have to crank up the power wheel to almost max to open the valve. On my condor i have the power wheel set at 0 but the heavy hammer, heavy hammer spring to ope. The valve at up to 3600 psi.

Good luck and keep us up to date.

Hi

I typically run 2800 down to 1800. With my TH adjustments and o-rings that get’s me a steady 20FPE with the powerwheel maxed. That’s running a 12″ .22 with 6″ TT Shroud.

I’ve got a 24″ 22 barrel that is set to arrive today. Once I get a set of barrel bushings (it’s a 16mm) I’m hoping to get to 30FPE but it won’t be my “everyday” barrel because i dont have a shroud to fit yet (urban shooter primarily).

I’ve also got the stronger spring on order from Talon Tunes I plan on installing and using with the 12″ until I can pick up an 18″.

My preferred, everyday setup will be eventually (end of spring hopefully) heavier spring, no-bounce talon hammer, 18″ 22 with 6″ TT shroud. I’m hoping to get 30 FPE with this setup and 40+FPE when I drop in the 24″ occasionally.

I watch your hunting videos on GTA all the time. Almost makes me wish I had a coyote problem so I could justify building a 70-100FPE gun! Until Ohio let’s me deer hunt with an airgun I just can’t make a good case for 100FPE. Someday!

Very cool, thanks.
Probably going to stick with .22 for now. I went a little crazy last season at PA using the Buy 3 Get 1 tin. I have enough JSB 18.13 to last me another season probably.

My Talon No-Bounce hammer is arrived from Tony today. Do you happen to know if I’ll be able to use the hammer weight with the TT Talon No-Bounce Hammer?

It looks like my next purchase will be a valve, spring and hammer weight! Hoping to have an 18″ barrel in by April

Thanks, shooting .25 in it now with a custom hammer for this barrel and a power spring.

My Talondor!

That’s a great looking gun! I wrestled between the Ultima Stock vs Drop Drop/Wok/Tank butt for a long time. Been pretty happy with the Mad Dog. Is that a trigger shoe on there too? What kind of work have you done to the internals?

My Talondor!

1. Hammer Weight
2. High Flow valve.

That will get you to stock condor power.

I dont necessarily want “max power”. A 24″ barrel is too long for my purposes not to mention I’d have to get another case.

What I am looking for is simply the list of parts needed to convert a Talon SS to a Condor.
1. Hammer Weight
2. High Flow valve.
3. Heavy Spring?

Thanks!

If you want max power get a 24″ barrel.
