Q:

My first Veteran .25 string…

I’m not really experienced at these, but figured I’d throw one up

I used a prochrono about 5 inches from barrel, Beeman Crow Magnums (26.23gr)

I had 3 shots not on chrono. One it just missed somewhere in the 40-50 shot range, one dry fire mishap in the 50-60 range, and one chrono “dupe” in the off-regulator range at the end in the 80-95 shot range.

I went from 250 bar (exactly according to Veteran manometer) to pretty close to empty (60 bar) which I know isn’t all that useful but I just kind of shot until it dropped off the cliff. I have my hammer spring tuned out to somewhere in the low 30-ish FPE range.

Seems like at this setting it’s about 65ish good shots, then off regulator for another 30ish or so…

Man, you guys have way more patience than I do… I really like my pellets shooting faster than that lol… But then again, I have a disease with all that sort of thing too…

One of the bigger reasons I want the .22 in a long as well… Nice read here though… All you guys with the new mutants have been posting good reports from what I been reading 🙂

OK, I turned up the power a bit to 40ish fpe, was actually more accurate here and it seems to like the 33.95 Diabolo heavies. I found there is a trick to use the magazine with the longer pellets, you have to use your fingernail and push the pellet skirt down past the second oring after it ‘clicks’ into place.

I did this one with a Combro and a new app I wrote since theirs is really bad and I wanted to refresh my Android development skills. I’ll make a post about that when it’s a bit more polished, I’ll put it up for free.

String looks better but I think the regulator could still use being turned down a bit, no?

If thats where you want to shoot ???… then the reg needs to be turned down. other wise add more spring pressure. and turn up the power

As Dman mentioned. Try to set the reg to the pressure at the peak velocity…close to what your gauge is showing at the 790 fps mark +/-. That will bring your string up to that point then drop off. May have to mess with HST a bit too.

Yeah, I like around 40fpe, it was shooting hole over hole with that pellet at that speed. Maybe this weekend I’ll tear it down and try reducing regulator a bit.

If you plan on shooting it at that speed you should retune the gun by lowering the regulator pressure so that you don’t get that spike at the end.

You would probably gain a solid 35 – 40 shots…
