Q:

Vulcan .25 crazy power variations

Hi all

My vulcans power keeps fluctuating wildly between 30-42ft lbs it’s causing a nightmare with estimating pellet drop..
It’s a few years old now, could this be the hammer?

A full string will be helpful for all of us.
Try to register the velocity for each shot from 250 bars down to 100.

Groups fine but there is the odd flyer which is higher or lower indicating a sudden increase or decrease in power

does it group? man sometimes the fluorescent lights mess up chrony readbacks completely. if it is few years old may just need o rings replaced and internally inspected properly. at some point .25s had their hammers and hammers springs replaced/upgraded. check if you hammer has a step in it, it is like a spring guide. must have been for a reason.

Hi

I shot 5 shots last night at 210bar – whilst I didn’t write them down they varied between 740fps and 860fps

shoot a full string from full cylinder down to 100bar and let us know all numbers or post the graph.
need to see if the regulator is working or not. might be the reg if it has a power curve. i.e. low power at 250bar OK power at medium fill.
do you have the old or new hammer? did you chuck out the rubber depinger, sometimes it gets stuck between the coils.
there was a post here not long time ago, the reg needed o rings replacing or turning down(cant remember now) a bit because the needle and the seal were too far apart and it was not reliably closing. or the o ring was degraded so it was letting the full cylinder pressure through.
