FX taking over the market
There is a site that states this, And they go on to say the FX line is the cream of the crop and everything else is second class.
I can not believe that many people drank the cool aid, WTF.
If what they are saying is true every manufacture of any gun except FX is doomed.
I can not believe there is so many misinformed air gun people out there.
I guess its like telling the Harley rider that just bought a 25,000 dollar bike that a EX 500 ninja will blow his foot pegs off in any performance run!!

FX is the powerhouse in airguns. There are two main reasons for this: Aggressive marketing and the fact that they make their barrels. The second reason is the most important. Small to mid-sized airgun manufacturers are slaves to a 3rd party barrel maker. This delays production and limits output. The PCP airgun market grew without the support in place to help manufacturers bring their products to the consumer. The lack of ancillary companies in the airgun market will eventually change.
FX is good for the airgun market in my opinion. Fredrik and his dealers bring new airgun buyers to the market, expanding the sport’s popularity. Very few guys I know are single brand loyal. We all get bit with new gun-itis from time to time, and variety helps keep the market exciting. Variety and competition push innovation and invention.
Ted Bier is directly responsible for making two brands famous, make no mistake about that. The EDgun and FX can thank their humble beginnings on Ted’s videos.
There is no reason to get worked up over brand loyalty, let people have their fun. If they love a brand now, they will eventually be lured into another brand later.
That’s what I did. Crickets and Edguns were hard to find, get on a list, or absent. There was a particular use for the long Royale: It was a great rifle to poke the barrel through brush/vines, on a field pod, and I’d be mostly hidden behind leaves, sitting in wait. The high shot count (80+) meant no need for field refills. Many hundreds of squirrels dropped this way. Once I stopped pesting the Vineyard, the long gun was less useful.
Really I am not worried about FX taking over the market, With the Sweden high labor cost and the Tax at 50.1 %
No way in hell could FX make a gun to compete with the Cricket or the Mutant guns.
I do think the next boom will be in the low cost PCP guns.

Well, honestly, in my neck of the woods I only know one guy that had an FX and has since sold it. They just don’t sell well in the area. Folks here would laugh if you told them that FX was the market leader here. Not even for PCPs alone or the higher-end PCPs or bullpups. They are rare or guns a few folks buy and then trade off. There are many more Crickets and Edguns around and Marauders for that matter if you include all PCPs. If you are talking all airguns in numbers Crosman and Gamo and maybe UMAREX own the market. These new sub $300 PCPs may change that some day except for the compressors and hand pump costs. Iride – I wouldn’t worry about FX knocking out the other players.

In any case, did any regular, powder burner gun maker take over the market? Given the plethora of manufacturers, it’s likely whomever delivers the best quality for the best, competitive price, will gain market share. Shooting and operating great, right out of the box, is not true for several rifles I’ve received. Those makers didn’t get a second order. I don’t buy air rifles so I can work on them. Sure, over time, things wear out.
The FX Royale I had did pretty well, right out of the box, no real issues; accuracy wasn’t the best. Can’t say that about the R3M, Vulcan or Condor. The Edgun has had some major issues, primarily with the mag auto-advance. Still, it’s a laser. Vulcan bolt action sucked and the Condor needed a complete makeover by Dyotat before it was worth shooting.
Compare another sport product, saltwater fishing reels: if it doesn’t perform well out of the box, do you fix it or take it back? However, it’ll end up in the trash if you don’t eventually take it apart and clean it up.

I just caught a red fox on camera in the backyard. He nearly caught a live squirrel at the corn which ran up a tree. The picture is not real clear because I cropped it to blow it up. I used a Canon t6i and Sigma 18-300mm lens at 300mm. I need a 150-600mm for wildlife photos. He was about 40 yards away.
I didn’t know Odessa was like Houston on crime. It’s so small.

My back yard…..
I have sunflower seeds but it brings cardinals, blue jays, blue birds, chickadees, and finches (also sparrows on the ground only and a red fox even eats it on the ground). Corn for the doves, pigeons, deer, turkeys, chipmunks, ground hogs, raccoons, squirrels, and opossums. The suet brings starlings, nut hatches, and all kinds of wood peckers (we have a ton of large pileated ones).
The starlings are in big flocks somewhere but send small groups to eat. Once they know the suet is there they keep coming as long as it lasts. The best technique I have found is laying it in the open on its side it the air up where the other critters can’t get to it.
Anything red is fair game. :4:
There is a wet weather creek back there too so turtles and snakes abound. lol
I have seen the suet it comes in little squares ,
I may try it and see if I can bring in the starlings , I got a few around , They just do not come to my chicken scratch feed.
I bought a 50 lb. bag of black sun flower seeds brought the doves in like crazy, Nothing else liked it?

The starlings are thick as well. They will pull chunks of the suet onto the ground and it brings their buddies. I picked up a couple cases marked down to .50 per slab and they love it. I need it where the raccoons and opossums can’t get to it.
I also had one of the first Bobcats in .22. After getting my Cricket and seeing how accurate they were, the Cat went out west to a new home. Coda now that your retired you’ll have all the time in the world to control those chipmunks.
They have had so many new product introduction problems and quality control issues I am sure it has had an negative Impact (pun intended). Give your sponsored shooters the accuratized guns. Control the forums (social media) and the distributors as much possible and advertise the hell out of them. Sound familiar?

BTW – the chipmunks and raccoons are back in force this spring. I guess the mild winter propagated so many of them. :4:
I’m not a big FX fan but I have to admit I shot some that were very accurate and (at that time) very reasonably priced (in Europe).
They were never the finest but the LW match grade barrels did the job quite well. Never tried a ST barrel though.
