Older Edgun R3M
Hello from London this is my first post on the forum so be gentle and use plenty of lube! I’ve just picked up a second hand matador R3M and I have a few questions about it. The gun I believe is one of the older versions (serial number 933) of the R3M as it doesn’t have the consentric screw on the rear of the stock and it doesn’t have some of the other features that the newer guns currently have. my rifle has two adjustment screws instead of the one screw and there is no cut out to store spare magazines under the scope rail. The gun has traveled a fair few miles and had 4 previous owners it’s gone from Russia to Scotland then to Wales then down to me in London.
When I got the rifle home I noticed movement at the back of the receiver as it was able to slip up and down by a few millimetres. I then took it out of the stock and realised the stock screw washer was missing which leads to my first question does anyone know the size of the washer so I can buy on online and two once I get one will that completely cure the problem of the movment?
Also when manipulating the bolt it feels very gritty when you draw it back and push it forward even after having gone through four previous owners and countless number of shots put through it. Would mirror polishing some of the contact points inside fix this do you think or is it something to be expected. I’ve cleaned all the old lube off and relubed it but it hasn’t made any change.
I’m very happy with the rest of the rifle and have no regrets about purchasing it at all I’d just like to get it 100% perfect.

Please don’t make me remember this, I still have nightmares when I hear this after so many years :angrymob:
The size of the stock shim washer is 10mm OD x 5mm ID x 1mm thick.
All guns differ not sure if it will help or make it worst though, you need to try it.
Also check if the gap between the AT is in parallel with the shroud would be a reference in the action being in it’s happy place.
On the bolt there is a grove cut into it on the bottom that maybe where the gritty feel is coming from and polishing it a bit won’t hurt.

As suggested I got a variety of washers to try but With washers fitted the movement at the back of the stock only gets worse! The longer I have the rifle the more it just seems to disappoint me! Ive tryed polishing the bolt but it’s still sticky and gritty it has a horrendous sound when you pull it back and there is a little vibration. I’ve spoken to the seller and he has agreed to refund me thank god. I think I dodged a bullet with this one.
Im sad to say it’s been a very disappointing experience for me.
