Q:

Upgrading Talon to Condor

Long time reader, first time posting.

I purchased a .22 TalonSS a while back and I’ve had lots of fun with it. I upgraded it with 24″ barrel and love the performance.

I wanted to upgrade it to a Condor. I thought all that was required was the Condor tank with the Hi Flo valve. I received the tank today and after filling it to 3000 psi I was quite surprised that it would not shoot any faster than with my Talon tank. I tried all sorts of adjustments but no luck.

Am I doing something wrong? Do I need something other than the Condor tank? Did I get the wrong tank from Pyramid Air? I would like to know before I go through the hassle of returning it.

Thanks,
Sam

Thank you Steve and Dave.

I emailed Tony and he suggested a Hammer/Spring kit that works for my Talon. I’ll be ordering the kit soon. I’ll let you know how it turns out.

You should click on the TalonTunes box at the top of the page. Tony makes beautiful hammers out of brass that weigh more than the stock hammers. You can see pictures of his hammers on his website. If they appeal to you, give him a call. He is a pleasure to speak with and is very helpful. Good luck!

You probably just need a heavier hammer, Sam. Or more accurately, the Condor additional hammer striker weight if you want to stay more or less stock. I did about the same thing you did, but instead of a Condor valve, I got a Blodnob valve. Does NOT work well with a stock hammer, although a 75 gm. hammer works fine with the stock hammer spring. Either contact Air Force for the striker weight, or get a heavier hammer, 65-75 gm. should do the job. Good luck!

Dave
