DAQ and Discovery groups and pics….

Did a little bit of shooting with the Discovery and DAQ 308 over the weekend, in between graduations and other obligations.

I found the 308 to group a little oddly given a 3000psi fill. As shown in this picture, on a 3000psi fill, the gun gave 2 very close groups with the third being high and to the left. I filled to 3200psi and got 3 close shots with the 4th being a touch high and the 4th being high and to the left and the 5th going in between. I guess there is more testing in order, but for the purpose of this gun, 3 shots that close is perfect.

I tried a few more groups with it at 50 yards and as the gun broke in a bit and as I became more familiar with it, my groups improved. All shots were taken using 115gr Hunter Supply Round Nose bullets with an initial velocity of around 820fps. As the gun breaks in, velocity should improve and groups may shift a bit.

I also shot my Discovery tuned by Jim Ayers. (J3Magnum) The Discovery wears a Steve Corcoran stock and a muzzle brake by Anthony Storey. The gun gives around 40 useable shots. Full shot string is…
