R3M bolt/action lube?
I disassembled my breech after about 2500 shots on the factory grease and lubed all the contact points with moly but I am wondering what you guys use to lube the outside of the bolt itself? Should I just burnish some moly into that as well and clean off the excess or run it dry? I tried finding some Archoil 8300 but it’s out of stock everywhere….

Thanks for the offer, but I plan grab one of them .5 syringes so no need bro. I am getting 40 shots at 899fps with a 200bar fill. I have tried filling to 220bar and the fps was consistent all the way down to 130bar until it climbs off the reg. Your 60 shots is with a 200bar fill right? I did see some stats someone posted on their r3m short .22 that Ernest tuned and it got 50 shots at 880fps/200bar fill. Pretty sure he sets the reg at 120bar which is why I was thinking of lowering my reg so I don’t get the spike at the end of the string. Not sure a Huma would fit because I have the newer 2017 valve/reg???? At least on Huub’s site he said it won’t but also said he is making a Huma that will fit the new style valve.
Rambo out. :4: :biggrinn:

Darn ….. and I wanted to try and sell you into getting a HUMA.
I have a Matador std which is getting 60 shots with 18g @ 940 fps max abouts ?
If I had a short I would want more shots and get at least 930 fps max so I could drop it to 920 fps optimally.
Also, I think I could get a sample of Archoil 8300 into a pain letter size envelope for yah if you like ?
… let me know, it’s free.
I still got your address, Rambo. :biggrinn:

On the other forum you mentioned Archoil in response to my trigger post and since I had already lubed my trigger sears with moly and it is great now I didn’t give the Archoil much thought to be honest. I’ll have to try some now, thanks for costing me another 20 bucks btw. At this rate I’ll end up pan handling just to buy pellets! Plus side is, it’s the perfect time of year for it. :biggrinn:

It makes moly feel like you added sandpaper on the contacts !
After time moly seems like it drys out and loose its flow if you don’t mix/cut it with trans or pellet gun oil.
This stuff gets better over time (fills in surface takes about 100 round cycle) is so slippery you not need to polish or repolish anything.
I’ve added it to ALL my PCP metal to metal areas that have a high friction points with wear and tear.
Don’t use it anywhere on the inside of the AT, just on the outside parts of a gun.
Hammer spring and guilds will perform to their optimum consistency with no variable hang up/binding friction points.
Clean all contact areas with denatured alcohol and use very sparingly, a little goes a longer way with this stuff.
This tube will last yah 10 lifetimes ….. so far I’ve only pushed down on the plunger about 1/8th of an inch.

No need to search, I’ve got the EDgun section memorized I’ve scrolled through it so many times. Like one of those idiot savant’s when you tell them a name and they can instantly tell you what page it’s on in the phonebook.
Some, like Brian use Ballistol to lube the cocking assembly and bolt with good results.
I don’t give all my secrets away, do a search.
It’s biodegradable non-toxic base stock and clear …. won’t dirty and get on things as moly does and with all aspects more than twice as good.
:8: Thanks Sir Ville !!
… also a word of Caution if used on the sear contact points.
It can reduce trigger weight/pull as much as 2x (8oz can drop to an unsafe 4oz), so before application I’d increase the pull and retest/bump test.

You mean Archoil 8300? I mentioned it in my first post :winkn: You recommended it to me on another forum, thanks Greg. Also saw that Sir Ville highly recommended it in a thread on lubing the cricket action. Yes, when I lubed my trigger with moly it my gun wouldn’t even cock. I had to turn the trigger screw out about 1.5 turns. I’ll keep my eye out for some Archoil, now I’m curious to try it.

There should be a thin film of a good lubricant on the bolt.
Thanks Shooter, I won’t use a silicone lube on metal to metal. The only reason I haven’t lubed it yet is because from seeing everyone’s videos it doesn’t look like they use any grease on the bolt itself, maybe it doesn’t need it as long as the slot on the bottom of the bolt is lubed?
I will say it’s pretty damn slick now after the moly treatment. :8:
I followed Wingman’s write-up on lubing the action if anyone was wondering. Thought I would share it. Thanks for the how-to Wingman!

No silicone lube on any metal-metal contact! You can use ant heavy lithium grease there.

Yah 200 bar fill …… down to 120 bar, my reg is factory set to 130 bar.
With JSB 18g @ 880 fps I top fill to only 180 bar and get 4 mag = 48 shots.
Grrr, I keep forgetting you got the R3.5M !
