question about fps
I put my condor ss on the chrony today using 25.4 jsb exact king .25. Started at 2 on the dial and moved up to 12. I got .960 to .980. I saw a guy on youtube do the same with a condor .25 and his spread was 740 to over 1000. Any ideas on why I am getting such a small range of fps? I cleaned the inside completely, from barrel to hammer and inside shroud, no difference. I tried a light coat of thin oil on hammer and shroud with no change. The fps spread is very tight, less than 10 fps but seems like I should be getting a bigger range when I go from 2 to 12. Thanks for any help.

I don’t know about this being a good idea. To be honest, I would say it’s an “idea”, not necessarily a good one. You might increase adjust-ability, but by clipping off a coil, you will reduce the FPS from the top end of the power wheel. If you want maximum adjust-ability, buy a Constant Air Pressure regulator from PCP tunes that goes inline between the bottle and the valve assembly. When you use this regulator, you bypass the normal operation of the hammer and valve spring hitting the top hat and releasing air from the bottle. When you use it, you always leave the power wheel maxed out at 13/16. This is because the mechanics inside of the regulator control the air pressure inside. Every time the hammer hits the top hat, it fully dumps the pressure inside the regulator chamber. Since you accurately control the pressure inside the regulator chamber (readable via the pressure gauge), you can control the FPS on ANY Air Force Rifle. The regulator can be adjust to push the pellets at 100 FPS if you want. Or you can push them 1100+. You need to upgrade the top hat to a 1 piece high flow model. Also, you need to upgrade the hammer to 95 grams or heavier (mine is 95). You need to do nothing with the stock hammer spring. The additional length of the heavier hammer will automatically generate more strike force due to the added compression.
This is what I did on my gun. It also eliminates the bell curve and regulates your FPS to and average of + or – 12 throughout the entire shot string. It’s a win-win purchase. Regulated air gun are proven to be more accurate and more efficient than non-regulated models. FACT!
