Q:

Looking for input on a 177 Vulcan.

If you got a 177 Vulcan I would like to hear your comments on the gun,
What is the Pellet does your gun shoot best, What FPS are you shooting at, what is your shot count?
I really do not want to pay this much for a 177 gun, But I learned the hard way , Do not cheap out on your PCP guns.
You get what you pay for, Except for the FX line,
And it really seems Vulcan stands behind there guns pretty good,
The good, bad , and ugly, I want to hear it, :fishing: :fishing:
Mine will be a black Gen #4 I am sure

Kris ,
You got four guns and two brands and two calibers one of each,
Kind of like my Crickets and Veteran /Mutants
There is some very good stuff and videos out there in the 177/V/S 22 land,
I know in the UK they are limited to the 12 foot LB guns , But lots of good 177 V/S 22 information.

I had the upgraded cocking lever on the .177 too because it is so much faster to reload and there are 13shots in the magazine on the 4.5mm. But then I found that for single loading you need the original bolt really – to lock back.

It is not bad to single load you just have to point the gun down you find your way around the crocking link rod.

The upgraded Cocking lever ended up on the .25 that needs more force to get the pellet into the barrel.

Hi
I have a gen4 177 and it is working out fine for me.
With around 210 bar fill, I can confirm to get about 100+ shot counts before it falls out of reg around 90bar. It still has factory setting from talon tune and shoots jsb and aa 10.34g at 890-900fps. Those 10g pellets are the best food so far for my 177 and can do a dime size or less at 50 yard.
Also I have a donnyfl sumo and it sounds like a broken gun although it works great.
And that optional side cocking lever is a big plus. Comparing to cricket cocking lever, it is easier and smoother to operate.
Despite of all these good sides, I have some cons as well.
Breach area is tight for single load but still doable.
When disassemble, those slotted m4 nuts are not friendly to work with.
And magazine load shootings on mine shift POI from single loaded shots.
Overall, I like my 177 vulcan for being quiet, accurate and efficient on air and pellets.

i have got a .177, running at 11.5fpe, that is around 780fps with 8.44.
the reg is set to 75bar from 90bar original and shortened hammer spring.

there is no prechamber/spacer in a .177, so the reg vent hole is in differnt spot. Basically there is more air at full HP available, so more shots. it is a laser.

if you detune a .22 to the same power, you will get better shotcount and with light pellet like jsb express 13.4 i would say you can get the same power and shotcount. and in .22 airguns are more effcient.

what i am saying is at the same 17-18fpe for example, you will get more shots from a .22.
for a .22 probably the reg has to go lower to somewhere 100bar at this 17fpe or so.

i would never buy anything less than a .25 now lol

in original 90bar setup, you can shoot the 10.34 around 900 i am pretty sure too. so up to you. or if you turn the reg higher

maybe even heavier pellets.
for barn work .22 is better or a .25 because .177 are piercing/overpenetrate even at low power.
yes they fly fast initially but a .177 sheds the speed supricingly fast.

Sniperqty has few .177 videos, there is no difference in quality between calibers, he is cutting cards at 40yards with a .177 too. It is pellet on pellet

I can’t imagine hate………………

Zonk
Really on the fence about 177, Maybe because I always had 177 guns before PCPs , Maybe its Dr, Robert Beeman and all his writing about the flat shooting 177 and the arch of the 22 pellets,
I know with the increase power of the PCPs that logic is kind of out the door,
I do favor my two 22 over my two 25 , I think just a flatter shooting pellet ,
Come to think of it I did get hand cramps loading the Kral 177 mag,
If I did stick with 22 I would get a 22 Veteran to go with the 22 mutant and 22 Cricket.
Lets see if any 177 Vulcan guys jump in here and show me the love of there 177 Vulcan.
or hate?
Mike

Mike, why a 177? It’s hard enough for me to pick up .22 pellets with arthritis in my hands. AND, you ain’t no spring chicken either. Hell just drop one and try to find it, that’s a challenge in it’s self.
