Q:

Veteran Shorty .22 Barrel Markings?

Ok, need input from those of you who own a Veteran .22 Shorty, not any of the other variants.

I was offered a used Veteran .22 Shorty, but pics I was sent shows it has flat areas machined towards the back of the barrel, similar to that of the LW .25 barrel.

I thought all Veteran .22’s came with a CZ barrel that was completely round and had 3 dots on it?

Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!

The 3 dots are from a 200 barrel if you look at this http://www.airgunspares.com/store/product/11317/Air-Arms-S200-Barrel-.22/

Maybe the Ukrainians sourced a batch of cz200 /s200 barrels which they machined further or something or maybe the half procuct is just like that. If it groups tight, who cares what barrel is in there?

I bought my 22 Veteran Shorty in June last year, and the barrel looks the same at the breach as your in the photo. I like the way mine shoots. Out of box was shooting JSB 18s at 885 FPS, accuracy was very good. Tuned down to 825 FPS at GKU’s suggestion and accuracy is better…now very, very good.

So there’s not 3 dots anywhere on your CZ barrel? Interesting.

What made me question this one is 1) it didn’t look right and 2) at around the 850 fps mark, the groupings were over 1/2″ @ 30 yds w/ JSB pellets, which is pretty unusual for a CZ barrel. He had to turn the gun down to the low 700’s w/ JSB 18’s to get 1 hole groups. Haven’t seen any Mutant/Veterans requiring speeds that low for accuracy.

I am looking at my 22 CZ barrel right now in my hand, No markings at all,
I have a Linstone barrel on my Mutant 22,
My 25 Veteran has the flat spot on the barrel.
