Q:

Barrel pull question

I have heard two or three pressures to use when doing a barrel pull/align and tightening up the air tube barrel and breech assemblies. They are 150; 160 and 180 Bar.

Does anyone have an opinion on this?

Thanks Greg. I’ll try 180.
I just rebuilt the gun and did a rebuild of the regulator with polishing of everything incl belville washers. Getting an extreme spread of 10 and SD of 2.

I fill both of my Crickets to 180 bar before tightening up the 4 frame hex to about 20 in/lbs.
After which it needs to shoot a top fill before seeing the POI steady up on the second fill.

Also might want to consider free floating the AT in the stock too, it’ll help minimize POI shifting.

Want more consistency in the velocity ?

Wow thanks for the informative reply. I guess the main thing I wanted to know was does it make that much of a difference if I use 150 bar or 180 bar? Perhaps 160 would’ve the magic number.
I did have a question about your comment about maintaining fps accross the pressure spectrum. If one sees a change what can one do to fix that?

Imagine: ideally you should have the cylinder straight with parallel walls with the barrel also straight hopefully too- parallel mounted along to the cylinder In one plane. If you look from the side.
If you look from the top cross section wise: the other plane If the geometries are right so the barrel clamps are identical geometrically both in the front and rear, and they are not turned/rotated on the cylinder by any angle/ degree, there should be no strain twist wise.

Plus if you add the third connection i.e. with the action block where the barrel comes in with o rings, make sure this is also not twisted in any way. If something is not right geometrically, size wise or alignment wise no matter what pressure you use poi will change.

Main thing is don’t tighten the screws up when it is empty or completely full so half way through is the best if it makes sense.
The order screws is to the x so you don’t put any torque strain on the frame during the process.
Make sure the FPS output is stable at full cylinder and half way through and just before power drops off, that can also cause wondering poi, I am not talkingshot to shoot variation that’s irrelevant it is more about any trending, gradually climbing or decay as you shoot the cylinder from full towards empty.
