JSB .22 Monster redesigned 25gr and Veteran
Any of you .22 Veteran Shorty owner’s trod this pellet yet? If so how is performance? What FPS is best? Right now I’m shooting 18.1 at 824 FPS…getting great accuracy, but wondering if the redesigned monster is as good or better?
Thanks,

That sounds pretty good actually. Now you are saying the redesign monster @ 950 with the reg bumbed up as well as crank down on the hst?
If that is the case and the barrel still accurate, that is not bad at all for that long of length pellet.
How many shots like that? I am sure it’s quite limited, heck I get that.
Shot count wise, the 16 and 18 will be had to beat and still be heavy enough for good energy. Still to get super accuracy from all three of these weights from one barrel is awesome, least that is what it sounds like yours is doing.
The monster is so much longer too.
Mike,
The wad cutter is a beast, if it can be shot accurately and in the area of 900 fps, it cuts paper cleanly. It doesn’t have to be target paper either, regular copy paper 🙂
It will take that ability to cut to the game the same and seems to me once its cut the skin once under the feathers or fur, it does a hydraulic affect on the smaller critters.
Now on the larger critters it does do something different but equally as devastating, it dumps all its energy in them and puts the stop to them as well.
13gr. 177 has got to be a long pellet with its ratio to its diameter. Not ever messed with those. I don’t really shoot much .177 and I don’t have anything shoot that had in that caliber anymore.
Maybe apples to oranges but I am shooting the redesigned 177 caliber 13,43 gr pellets with pretty good accurately
I am shooting out of the Vulcan 177 #2 , I thought they would make a good kill pellet as being pretty heavy, But they are no match for the JSB wadcutters 8.26 gr blue match pellets , The little wad cutters do a lot of damage to the birds .

Not quite sure on the shot count but quite a bit. I got 85 shots on the reg with the 16gr at 940fps. 105 shots within 20fps from 250-100bar. If you bump up the reg set pressure and a stronger spring you can sling the redesigned at 950fps however not efficiently at all. But crazy accurate at that speed also.
This has been my favorite Taipan hands down. I really think you’d like it. I’ve wanted a long for a long time!
DB, you said your shooting a .22 long and shooting the monsters at 870? That correct? Would have thought the long to have been stronger.
So, what is your shot count with these and your long?
I am wanting a long, but waiting to see more info on them since they are so new just yet…
Nice! Seems like they work great for you as well. I swapped my regs with my .25 Veteran and was shooting the .22 Redesigned at 950fps with same MOA accuracy at 50yds. I’m very impressed with them! Got my .22 reg back in and tuned the 18gr at 900fps and 16gr at 940fps. But I know if cranked up I can get 43fpe and awesome accuracy from the 25.39gr. Like yourself I’m not sure when I’ll use them as I have plenty of accuracy with the 18gr and at 75yds is basically a cheap shot on doves and pigeons. But haven’t stretched it out farther but would assume the Redesigned monsters should hold there own better.
Well spent some time today shooting the redesigned Monsters in my shorty Veteran in .22. With current tune I’m shooting JSB 18.1 at 825 FPS, with same tune the 25gr Redesigned Monsters are 682 at the muzzle. Target at 35 yds, made 1.5 turns in with the Donnyfl HST adjuster and the Monstors are 785 at the muzzle. Another 1 turn in and they are 796 at the muzzle. Another 1 turn in (3.5 turns in from original tune) and 785 at the muzzle. Tried 1 more turn in to see if I could get higher fps, and I could not cock the rifle. So backed HST out 3 turns and back to 785 FPS at muzzle. At 35 yards 1 ragged hole maybe 1/4 inch or smaller with 10 shot mag. This gun is used for squirrel and bird hunting in the wild and I think 785 FPS will carry enough energy for my needs. Now just to test accuracy at 50 yds and beyond.
Really the JSB 18.1gr are just fine out to 75 yds, and very accurate at 100yds with no wind, just never shot a squirrel at 100 yds. Plenty at 70, 60, 50 etc. just thinking the Monstors will be more stable at 100 plus….just Incase I get a shot out to that range.

PS. Anybody got a reliable BC for the JSB Redesigned Monstors 25gr? I know it would be barrel specific but just looking for something close until I can get FPS at a ranged target distance.
Thanks Dairyboy, I have a tin and shot a few last week at 40yds…basically clover leaf with 10 shots. Don’t have the room at home to stretch out to 50 yds. Planning a trip to range soon to test further. I’m shooting Taipan Vet short, not sure what FPS as I did not get crony out. Gun is tuned to shoot JSB 18s at 825fps, so maybe the monsters are traveling 750 0r so….just a guess.
Thanks for response
Dennis
I have a .22 long and cranked up am shooting them at 870fps with MOA accuacy out to 55yds. This gun also shoots the JSB 18gr at 945fps with sub MOA accuracy at 55yds. Love this gun

I’m guessing in the 20 shot range? Maybe 25 would be pushing it. Accuracy was great with them at all fps tried from 800-950fps. Beasts did great at 700fps but poor at 850fps. I got pics I’ll post up later
