Q:

Taipan Veteran Standard .22 vs Long .25

Hi friends,
I am already on the final line and ask for the last advice:

I have the following two options in front of me because only from Balistas (Czech Republic) can I take Taipan without a customs charge (+ $415 on US to Bulgaria (No-EU) 👿 ):

1. Taipan Veteran Long 6,35mm Laminate
https://www.balistas.com/air-rifles/taipan-air-rifles/taipan-veteran-standart-635mm-laminate/
High is the price: 1 329.4 € + 16 € transport and honestly (not that the others are cheap …) but they also wrote to me that for the moment they will not load / sell another option at 6.35 / .25 …

Also, it seems to me pretty heavy for a bullpup – 3.9 kilograms + Athlon Argos BTR 6-24×50 MIL = 839.15 grams = 10.45 pounds 😮 … I find it too heavy for me to shoot in a straight line and walk long in the mountain … 🙁

2. Taipan Veteran Standard 5.5mm
https://www.balistas.com/air-rifles/taipan-air-rifles/taipan-veteran-55mm/
The price is: 1 251.0 € + 16 € transport which is acceptable as an amount … The difference is not big compared to this price in .25 but for the difference I can buy another need …

The weight is: 3.2 kilograms + 839.15 grams optics = 8.91 pounds which is different from 10.45 => 1.54 pounds …

The bad thing for me is that I wanted the rifle to be in .25 caliber but what I can buy is very heavy in my opinion and expensive as a price because of the laminate. I wanted Standard .25 but Balistas.com will not sell ..

Taipan likes like reviews and data but I hope a lot of advice? Is Long .25 too heavy for bullpup for you or not?

Thanks in advance!

Guys

I bet alot of the weight of the .25 long is actually from that laminate stock. While they look all neat and are much better in bad weather and or changing weather for warping, I have always passed on them because of the added weight.

Now the limited availability of the rifles and inventory, thats just the manufacturer keeping its main focus on quality, least I hope that is… They don’t end up with big numbers of their product that doesn’t shoot well and need to get all those back for repair.
There is also the possibility they could get a dealer in an area that could be over loaded with product that they couldn’t sell, and would be left with cutting prices to just move the product.

Least my take on this.

Thank you colleague for the link.

Still, I wonder what this mystery about Taipan is …

In so few places is available for sale and very few pieces. The worst is that the choice of a particular model is too limited that will probably lead me to buying another model from another brand…

Dealers in US lists the .25 as being LW barrels as you stated.
On info about Taipans entrance in the US you might find this interesting reading.

Hello again,
For information only – Taipan Veteran Long 25 at Balistas.com has a CZ barrel which makes me strange because I have always (think) in 25 caliber with LW barrel?

And Yes Taipan is produced in Ukraine and the barrel is Czech.

Interestingly, there is no data for the Taipan manufacturer anywhere except his name mentioned there …

There is neither a site nor an address and coordinates even Facebook … a complete mystery …

At the same time, there is information about the rifle scheme and the types of o-rings …Does anyone know more about producing Taipan?

Asking something else even though it is not on this topic – is the new X barrel at FX like the old ST at which if I decide to shoot with slugs instead of the usual JSB should I buy a new barrel special for slugs?

Greetings.

I am curious about why Veterans from Balistas say made in the Czech Republic? Because we know that Taipan Veterans are made in the Ukraine.
