Q:

Nothing Special Here

Been wanting a bullpup for a while, but as always- I wanted to do my own thing. Uber expensive bullpups were out of the question- too much money up front, and I don’t like the look of the stock on most of them. So I’m building a Marauder based bullpup. I’ll post pictures when I have some that are worth while…

Basic run down of the parts:

– TJ .30 airgun barrel, 24″ OAL .5″ O.D. so it’ll fit in the barrel shroud and work with the factory shroud mounting stuff.
– Russian side lever breech. Yep. This Mrod is a side lever. Breech had to be modified for .30 cal and the .5″ O.D. barrel. Also some work for the custom TP.
– Cothran Valve.
– HuMa regulator w/.30 cal plenum, set for 160 bar (2320 psi). Yep. It’s regulated too.
– Rapid-70 bullpup kit for Gen2 Mrod. Took a long damn time to get a hold of him, but I’m stoked he’s still kickin’ and sending out this bullpup kits!!
– Custom fill plug that has a gauge, so I can keep track of un-regulated air.
– Hill enlarged Gauge Port- more flow
– Hill lightweight hammer
– Hill PEEK striker
– RAW trigger blade- not really needed, but I had one laying around, and the Rapid-70 trigger components will fit around it.
– Threaded end cap that replaces the factory Mrod barrel shroud end cap. It has M18x1 threads for larger LDC’s.

This Bullpup will be set up for only pellets. I’m thinking this combo should be good for 80-100 fpe. Not sure how many shots… 10+? Probably around that. I’ll post pics when I get my breech/barrel back… Stay tuned!!

Looking good so far Caboose!

I ran into a few issues and got frustrated with the build, so I took a break from it. I’m fixin’ to get my lathe up and running, and I still need to tram my mill. But once those are done, I can finally get back to this build. I’ll need to get a new main tube, I drilled the TP hole a bit off, so it’s not seating properly. Not a big deal. I’m gonna have to shorten the main spring, as it’s too long and goes into coil bind when I try to cock the gun. Not a big deal, just a little annoying. I’ll keep y’all posted.

I finally got my metal air stripper a few weeks back… I didn’t get too far with assembly, since I forgot to order the goddamn valve screws… Awesome. Anyhoo, here’s some pictures.

I assembled the main tube as far as I could go with no valve screws. I’ll keep y’all posted.

I got my breech, barrel and valve a few days ago… Looks even better in real life!! I’m still gathering small parts, but I’ll be assembling soon!!

I’ve ordered my metal air stripper for this build as well.

I’ve been talking on other forums, as this build with this parts combination:

Cothran valve
24″ barrel
HuMa reg set at 160 bar (not positive of plenum length of original build)
Factory length Mrod tube
MDS Hammer

Should net a solid 100+ fpe for 7+ shots. It’ll do 8 with the 9th shot off regulation, but it’s a moot point, as the available .30 Mrod magazines hold 7 shots. Which is perfect, to be honest. 1 mag, fill. A guppy tank should be able to fill this gun around 6 times. Not too shabby!! Of course, I’m not using a mag in this build, so I was close to my original guess of near 10 shots with a factory tube… This is going to be a very nice “large pest” gun!!

No idea! Probably just as much if not more than your average bullpup…

Honestly, for the major components: Valve, breech, barrel, reg and bullpup kit, I’m floating around $900 already. You’re definitely not saving money assembling something like this, that’s for sure.

But the reason I went this route is because when you assemble something yourself, you’re getting everything you want, out of the box. What’s the point of paying high dollar for something you’re then going to pick apart and modify? I may as well spend the money on the parts I know I want and assemble it. I’m also a tinkerer and it’s just the best route for me. Other’s would probably rather just buy a bullpup out of the box, and go shoot. Which is perfectly fine.

Just curious how much do you have in it now?$ wise?

Here’s some pics for you:

I’ll post more when I have them…
