Q:

Looking for Dimensions – Building My Own Shroud

Well it’s more like a frame extender made out of PVC piping, I just want to quiet it down a little bit. I was wondering what size allen wrench is needed to remove the end cap (and is it the same size to tighten the barrel screws?). I also need:

  • Inside width of frame when endcap removed
  • Suggestions for where to drill the whole for the pellet to pass through (this is the most important part, right?)

Has anybody done this themselves? Any suggestions? What kind of stuff can I put in the shroud to keep it quiet?[/list]

I bet that thing is really quiet with a 12″ barrel though. 😛

Looks good.

It is overkill for a 12″ barrel, but it is going to be used on a 24″ barrel, when it arrives.

It is 11″ long, and weighs .90 pounds.

2″ is over kill isn’t it? Did you say you were going to .25 cal?

It’s looking good so far, should look awesome when it gets anoed. How long and heavy is it?

Here is my newest shroud design.

Here is the adapter to fit the 2″ aluminum tubing, into the 1″ talon frame.

And here it is installed in the frame after being bored out, and a hole drilled.

The adapter is attached to the shroud using two 3/16″ 10/32 set screws. In future models, it will be threaded on, as well as the endcap. It will also be anodized black soon, which will look awesome!

When my 24″ barrel arrives, i will do some tests with a DB meter, and compare all of the sound-dampening devises i have made.

The better way is to get some 1″ OD aluminum tubing, JB weld a fender washer to the end.

Try 3/32 for the endcap screw, and the thread is 10/32.

Thanks, now all I need to know is what size allen wrench is used to unscrew the endcap? Is it 10/32? I could not find it in the thread.

I think all the measurements you could possible need are in the Quick Reference area.
