Got this yesterday… finally.

They come with a spare spring, which had a very matte finish and the end’s hadn’t been ground flat so I assumed the inside would be the same and need some work, I fired a shot to make sure there weren’t any problems with it and then put it in my spring compressor. Here’s the spare alongside the one from inside the gun that has had the ends ground and polished and had the friction surfaces on the inside and outside polished a little.

The spring guide shown above below the two springs was pretty rough too, and looks to be made similar to how they make flat head nails – a press cuts a rod to length and then another press hits it on the end while the rod is held in a die to make the nail head. The “head” of the spring guide was way off center so I turned that down and machined the contact surfaces square in my lathe and then polished the length of the rod a little. I should have taken a picture… but I got carried away.

I still have to get some tar and lube, but I put it back together and will lube it when they show up and then chrony it.
