new to the forum

Being a long time lurker I finally decided to join this forum. As hobby airgun builder I found lots of useful info here and some new ideas to. At the same time I hope I will be of some help too with my modest knowledge about airguns.

So here is my first question. What if I make barrel sliding forward together with hammer and barrel shroud, so making room for pellet loading, on sliding it back hammer remains cocked in forward position. Barrel will seal directly in valve stem extension. Will this work or am I missing something here?

I donΒ΄t think pressure behind pellet should be a problem, at least no more than in original design, in fact it has smaller diameter to act upon as in original design.
And as blodnob suggested it could be quite easily made as multishot.

If the front of the valve stem was a longer and used as a probe thats the start of the multishot . summet along the lines of a theoben or BSA indexing mag could be made to work.

The pressure behind the pellet could keep your valve knocked open for too long.

Other than that, it looks ok, and the air flow efficiency(?) would be better than in the AirForce design.
Plus, there’s less chance of jamming your fingers between the hammer and valve stem (yes it happened to me once 😳 ), since closing the breech cocks the hammer.

Another version. In this one valve stem pushes pellet in barrel and seals inside barrel. Scope will be mounted on barrel assembly so there should be no problem with POI shifting.

Your idea is a good one but I am afraid you would alway be chasing accuracy. Having the barrel move you would need a very specific and strong mechanism to maintain consistent barrel placement.

It could work, but the seal between the barrel and stem would have to be a very good one, and you’ll have to lock the barrel in place somehow, otherwise the pressure will shoot it forward.
Plus you’ll have to turn your barrel really really thin (which could perhaps give problems while turning, such as warping of the barrel, and give a really fragile breech end), to minimize the surface the pressure can work on, and to not have a super-huge valve stem πŸ˜‰

Then there’s the problem of getting the barrel to be placed in the exact same position with ultra-consistency, to prevent poi shifting (unless maybe you find a way of mounting the scope on the barrel assembly πŸ’‘ )

But if you manage to sort all that out, it could work out to be a nice gun πŸ˜€

Overall I think it would give a lot of consistency issues, but I would really love for you to prove me wrong πŸ˜›
