Need advice on a .22 Beeman Crow Magnum
I’m thinking about trading a friend ‘s airgun for .308 powderburner that I have. Could you please PM me with advice. I would like to know about how much the used airgun might be worth.
This gun is about 5 to 6 years old and came equipped from beeman with a
Leupold 3 – 9 x 33mm VX-II Series EFR scope. And that will go with the gun
my buddy had the same gun and scope and he sold it for $1050 2-3 years ago. Now His co worker who has the same model gun and scope set up, wants to part with it to build up a .308 tactical rifle. I am thinking about trading him.
I was doing some research on it and it looks like the beeman crow magnum is a re-branded Theoben Eliminator? With a gas ram? Does anyone know if they all were gas ram models, or the gas ram was a feature of newer crow magnum air guns.

My friend said he is sure (from the documentation) it is a spring piston gun not a gas ram.
Does anyone know more about this gun.
I sent him some .22 Kodiaks to test with my chronograph and he says they are going 668 fps. I would expect they would go faster than that so the gun may be damaged?
Any Ideas or advice?

You need to chrony the gun. It does seem a bit underpowered.
If the ram is adjustable, it may be easily remedied by adding pressure to it. If the ram is not adjustable, it may have lost a little pressure.
If neither of those, then it could be a bad piston seal or breech seal causing the lower power.
Keep in mind though that spring, to include gas rammed guns, often shoot the heavier pellets much, much slower than lighter ones.
With PCP, if we want more fpe, we generally use a heavier pellet. With spring and rammed guns, thats not always the case, and often isnt.
For example, my RWS 54 will shoot 14.3gr Premiers at 812fps for right at 21fpe. Kodiaks at 21gr….? Around 560fps for less than 15fpe.
I bet if it is a gas ram someone let off some pressure out of it. I have no idea what your .308 is worth, but the C.M. is a nice gun if its been well cared for. I have the smaller brother to the C.M. and it is very nice.
Seems to be under powered some. Roger I would check the gun out my self to see if it’s really shooting right.

I actually drove down to Salinas to see my friend who was borrowing the gun. My friend cronied the gun and it was shooting Kodiaks at 668 fps and 791, 789,791 with the 16 gr. predators.
I think it is a gas ram the s/n is TB 15XXX from the research I did at:

Rifles built after number TB6000 will be powered by the H.E. system.
This needs a lever type pump to achieve the higher pressure required in
this type of rifle. Rifles will have H.E. stamped on the barrel to assist in
identification. All power changes must be checked with a chronograph.

It looks like all models made after s/n 6000 were made with the gas ram system. The gun was beautiful well crafted, and shot smooth. I didn’t group it on paper.
The down side was that there is a problem with the trigger, sometimes you pull the trigger and it doesn’t fire, you need to re set it by breaking the barrel all the way open to reset the trigger. Then it might shoot.
Or worse yet you pull the trigger, nothing happens, then move the gun and it goes off. ( don’t know if it is because of a failed trigger adjustment attempt or, if something in the gun is messed up)
I’m sure If I get the gun, I can send it off to beeman or Pomona airguns to get it fixed, and the gas ram recharged to the max again.
then bleed the pressure off my self to match what pellet I choose (based on accuracy) to shoot.
I noticed it had a nick on the out side edge of the breech o ring, so it could be leaking there during shooting.
I think it would be a good investment if he will make the trade, I can play with it for a while then trade it or sell it to get another SS.
