A freind ready to spend up to 2K on first airgun…
So I’ve been talking to a buddy about air guns, and got him interested in them. He owns many firearms worth big bucks, and isn’t afraid to lay down some serious green now on his first airgun. He wants to be accurate out to 100 yrds… out of the box…
I thought of guns like the 50 ft lb Daystate Airwolf. If you had 2K to spend on a airgun, what would you be looking at? I told him I’d come to you guys for advise. I’m assuming he’s want a .22, or maybe .25 at the biggest.

Thanks for chiming in with some advise guys. Randy, I do agree that if this guy is talking about shooting accurately at 100 yards he definitely needs more than 30 ft lbs. My gun can do about 34 max, and can hit things like tin cans at 70 yrds no problem, but I know trying to hit animals humanely at 30yrds past that would be out of the question, at least I wouldn’t attempt it. I’m not saying it can’t be done, but even if you did make a good shot at that distance, how much energy would be left.
Anyways, I’m thinking if he would come down a bit in the distance/accuracy dept it would be easier for him to end up with a more suitable gun, especially since he’s not into tuning, modding, ect. I’ll have to talk to him more about the details.
Those are all great guns just make sure he is not going to be hunting past 75 yards if so he will need something with more then 30 ft lbs for sure.
Don’t forget the Sumatra with a new 500cc tank and cheap 6 shot mags. If he gets one of those he can get the gun, extra mags, 4500 psi tank, and LDC, and still be below 2000.00. 😀
I almost did but opted for the Condor for a couple reasons. Portability, on-shore parts, .25 quick change option, and the fact that some of my buddies with repeaters complain of burning thru way too much ammo and time filling then shooting. One buddy has both and said at least with his Condor he chooses his shots and has learned to hone his shooting skills.
I tried hunting gophers at a 100 hundred yards with a Talon bottle on my Condor and lets just say 60 ft lbs is WAY more humane.

Air Arms 410e, CF tank from Pomona Airguns, Bushnell Elite with mounts. That should do it.
He can get that stuff from Pomona Airguns….one stop shopping.
He wants a multi shot/clip. I did make him aware of is the cost of a decent tank, maybe a carbon fiber one, which isn’t cheap, and will put a big dent in his 2k if that’s his limit.
Or a Condor with a Bushnell 6500 elite 4.5x30x50 M.D. still leaves room for pellets and a tank.
Yes, the Rapid came to my mind to, and I told him about it. I figure the occasional critter, and target shooting is what he’ll do. Actually, the .25 Rapid may be a good choice.
What about a rapid? I hear they’re grrrrrreat. What does he want to do with it? Targets? Feinworkbou (I know i killed the spelling lol)

For sure past 75 yards the wind can really play havoc. I prefer 29 and 32 grains in .22 and 31, 37, and 42 grains when using my .25 they all buck the wind well.
The fact is a gun producing 60 to 70 ft lbs of energy still has around 30 ft lbs even at a 100 yards stretch that to 150 yards and a 30 ft lb airgun just falls flat (tried this with a Talon valve just to be sure).
