Okay, call me crazy…
But I think I’m going to trade off my 24″ .22 barrel for an 18″. I’ve got an 18″ .177 and an almost 18″ .20, I find that I really like the overall length of the Talon and SS better than the Condor length. I’ve taken two ground hogs with my shorter barrels, the .22 hammer stays home because it’s too unwieldy to pack around in my car/truck. What good is a high powered hunter that you never take hunting? Since I have a Blodnob valve for the hammer, I really don’t think I’ll lose any usable power, and I’ll reduce it to a package that I already know works well for me. So AM I crazy, or am I missing something? Anyone else gone to the long barrels for their Talon/SS, then realized/decided it was TOO long? Still kind of undecided here, so I’m looking for opinions. Thanks, guys.

I ‘m getting a Talon w/18″ barrel for the same reason. With some valve tuning and tender love and care by TalonTunes it can be a great (not to mention quiet w/a shroud) 35-40fpe gun.
Yep, had the 18″ for a while now and really like it, although with the frame extender I use it’s the same length as a stock Condor, but much quieter. The extender can easily be removed for packing the gun in my original gun case.

That is how I have alway felt and the reason I have a 16″ on my Talon SS.
I know what it is. I believe the Lothar Walther barrels have a .002″ choke. How much could this change accuracy?
With out a choke you decrease accuracy, Choke is internal, not external
That would be easy enough, but what makes the choke so important? How do you choke a barrel, and what would happen if you did what i said earlier?
A Talon SS with 18’ barrel is a great match. I’m waiting to get a Blodnob valve to add to my TSS/18” combo!
Got it backwards, Leave the choke and crown and cut and taper the breech end.
Well, if you have a lathe, you could always cut it down to the desired size, and re-crown it.

The very reason I have a 18″ Bb.
DO NOT cut the muzzle end. Shorten from the breach end, and turn the bbl. down to the same dia. as it is now. Not a hard project at all. Just stop short a couple of thousandths and polish for a smooth hammer travel.
