Numbers with Benjy tank installed.
Got the Benjy tank aired up to 3000 psi and have 20 shots thru the gun so far. Gun is a bone stock 18″ .177 with no adjustments to the TH. Power wheel is on 8.
Velocity is 603 – 605 fps with 8.30 grain RWS Super Domes. After 20 shots the meter on the tank is now reading just a pinch below 3000 or about 2900 psi.
With co2 in this same gun I am getting 710 fps with Super Domes.
I am just learning about these Airforce rifles and could use some input on the results I am getting with the regulated Benjy tank. Not very powerful but it ought to get about 200 shots from one fill 😆
So what do you Guy’s think ?? I was expecting more velocity … or maybe you can tell me how to coax more umph out of it.

Actually, I just bought a 3000psi tank with a 2000psi regulator from John at JDS Airman just 10mins. ago. I wanted to wait until a regulator with a higher psi than 1400 or 1600 was available from John so I never bought the lower psi tank, and as luck would have it, he just announced the 2000psi tanks on the Yellow forum this morning so I snagged one up. I will let you know results after it arrives and I get a chance to shoot with it.

calmountman, any input on the jds airtank that you’ve bought?? Good results??
.20 has my interest too … the Talon should make the most of that caliber ! I don’t know what the BC is of the .20 Crosman’s but since they weigh the same as the .22 cal’s. it should be up there … if they work well in your barrel they sound like a great choice.

O.K. Thanks for the reply. I just ordered my first Talon last night from Pyramyd Air in .20 cal. I am so excited I can hardly stand it. I am going to by a 22cu. in. bottle from JDS Airman and run mine on 1400psi. Should be interesting.

The tank is quite large on the back of my Talon … didn’t take a full length pick sorry. The tank started leaking slowly after about 3 days of use and I sent it back.

Is it possible that you can show a full picture of your talon w/benji bottle connected so we all can see what the benji bottle looks like on your Talon? I was think of doing the same thing but and I am hoping that is is not too large of a tank to fit me.

Here are the measurements for this tank as well as the weight when full.
Weight – 4 lbs 6 oz.
Length – 12 inches – including the Regulator.
Diameter – 4 inches.
It is one chunk of a tank !
sounds like the regulated output pressure is probably only in the 1200psi range.
Could it be that the 3000 psi tank will need the condor weight to get the most fps, since it is a condor valve the co2 adaptor is using?
I want to put a NV scope on this rifle and make it real quiet … then use it from a blind at night shooting rats over baited locations. Tank weight won’t matter for that plan.
The variance is very good. If you are not looking for huge FPE then you have something there for sure.
Bet that the members on here could really make this tank talk by changing some things about the gun or the regulator … I just don’t have the experience. The expertise on this forum just amazes me … you Guy’s are top notch Talon experts !

It’s using a lot more air with the new setting … 5 shots dropped it another 100 psi it looks like. So approximately 50 shots for 1000 psi. I guess that is pretty good from what I have gathered on the site here so far.
I thought I would give one of these a try so everyone else can decide if they are worth messing with or not. The tank is large in diameter much larger than my 12 ounce co2 bottles … and it is heavy … not something you would want to tote around in the woods.
After I take it back off of the gun I will weigh and measure it for the record. The regulator is producing 2-3 fps variances on the chrono so that was good to see … but my Macarri tuned TX200 can do that with the right pellets.
That is pretty good. 700fps with 2000psi. Not bad really for that set up.

Can test PSI output by fitting an On/ODd and a remote endcap to the co2 adpator. turned to “on”, pumped to test pressure, turned to “off”, then the pump vented, the adaptor will hold enough air for a test shot. Will be some air left over, so not all of it is sued in one shot (the adaptor has a good bit of room on the inside). Not 100% accurate as an attached HPA tank would tend to replentish the supply quickly, but will get you withion 5% of the real world. Makes selecting output pressure for an HPA tank less of a random choice.
Yeah…not without some danger as the end cap and on/off is not rated for high pressure…big solid unit, but still kept it under 1800PSI. Have to mention the above for safety.
The three odd shaped metal bits to the rear are pellet seaters. Don’t need them with some well fitted pelllets, but by using them have gotten good accuracy from the cheap, locally availible, .20 Benjamin/Sheridan Cylindrical pellets. Without seating, tend to fall out the breech….with the seater, groups have been in the 1″ at 50yad range.
