Regulator concept.
If somebody who knows about this stuff could cast a look over this and tell me where it sucks (or blows)… 😆
With a 16mm OD to play with the problem was fitting both the regulator valve and fill-inlet into such limited space. Then I realised there was no reason not to have the regulator valve further down inside the tube, with a pass-through port for the fill.
It’s a crude drawing, though the OD and general dimensions are to scale (not the main bottle outline of course). Bits could be bigger or smaller as needed. The shut-off pin is drawn so it can be seen clearly, obviously it would need to be close-tolerance etc.
It’s a non-adjustable solution, and would have to be perfected by trial & error. Eg, the strength of the spring, ID of the various ports etc. As for the basic concept, the entire thing is designed to go into the bottle, fitted to the inside part of the existing valve assembly.
Fill the bottle up to 3000psi. That would put both the bottle and regulator tube at 3000psi.
Fire off one shot, to clear the regulator. At that point air from the main bottle at 3000psi should go into the regulator tube, where it would both fill it and also enter the shut-off port. The spring would offer resistance up to a desired psi (eg 2000psi), at which point the pin would be forced across the air-flow coming in from the main bottle and shut it off. You now have a regulator filled with air at 2000psi. Crude but effective?
My ignorance…I don’t know if there is some law of physics that dictates the shut-off pin would not be able to close against a flow of air at 3000psi if the air driving the pin was at a lower pressure. I figured if the shaft behind the pin is narrow enough a lower pressure than that coming in would be sufficient.

Keep in mind when you have high pressure use small dimensions, you can see it in the korea rifles, they use two tubes together, not a big one.
I small tube can have high pressure, when you make a big tube for high pressure you need a very thick wall.
Stay with the projects from Mac Mike, that’s the only way, you can’t make a big regulator in the bottle, it’s like a sailing boat in a glass bottle.
A very slimline regulator system will maybe work in a Talon bottle.
But for a good working and safe regulator project you need a way out of the bottle, agians pressure build up.

Which is why I noted that the main bottle outline is not to scale. That tube is 16mm OD, and will fit into the Talon bottle via the opening in it’s neck. 🙂
