What’s reasonable to expect from a stock .177 Talon SS?
I’ve got a realtively new .177 caliber Talon SS. The main reason (o.k., excuse) for getting it was to control the rabbits that were ravaging my wife’s garden. I get 840-870 fs with Kodiaks, and 910-940 with Predators. I’ve played with the PW a bit, and it seems that a setting of about 8 gives me pretty close to the best power/consistancy shooting. I have not yet played with the top hat. How far am I from getting optimum performance, and how much might I gain from adjusting the top hat.
I get 30-40 shots, starting at ~2900psi and dropping to ~2100-2200psi.
Oh, and does anyone have good recipes for rabbit? 🙂

pyramid air says 400 to 1000 fps dont think your to far off. kingpin

Got mine back in early May they are great guns. In particular mine is in .177 got it as the co2 in ss trim version cause i wasnt sure about the hand pump and or the scuba deal. Played with that set up for a couple weeks then bought a standard t/tss tank and the hand pump. Wow– the spring guns are cool but this thing took the cake with the 12″ barrel and about a pw 9.5 setting kodiaks and heavy crosmans were doin high 900s down thru the good high to mid 800s. Then I got two barrels both 18″ one in .177 the other .20 . With a 3000psi fill pw@ 10. 18″ first shot 1010 with a .177 kodiak wow…. thats slightly over 24 foot pounds 😈 the .20 is even more torrid 13gr kodiaks hover just under 1000 on pw10 or so for just about 28 foot pounds 😈 . beeman field target specials, crosman heavies, kodiaks and rws superdomes try them in your .177 … and oh by the way mine is totally stock other than the lw barrels, and I am just about 100% sure its gonnastay that way no top hat turning or nothing. I get tons of powerful shots in the state that its in.
