My Talon SS arrived today but….
Hello all. New poster with lots of reading on these forums. (All 11 pages in this particular forum).
I finally got my SS today and after reading the manual, watching the video and slowing down my heart rate I took it apart enough to clean the barrel.
I decided to flash a flashlight down the front end and noticed something white on the left edge of the power wheel spring, behind it. Upon closer inspection it appears to be either a puddy of some sort or paper material. It is wedged in between the back end of the power wheel spring and I’m guessing the “edge” that the spring seats into.
Is there supposed to be anything in there?

Glad it got there safe. It didn’t have any teflon tape or locktite on the hose to pump connection, which I thought was strange when I removed it (I didnt like the idea of having it bent in the box or else I wouldnt have taken it off) – I think that that washer is a seal. Off course it cant hurt any to use some.
Pump got here safe and sound Yellow Ninja.
Great packing job and the pump is looking good. Waiting for the blue lock-tite on the hose to pump connection to set and I’ll try it out.
I’ll be posting on the yellow about this today.

Kept getting bad shots once in a while, (like a dud). I noticed the white tape also. It was folded and rolled. Looked like it was holding the spring once in a while. Cut it out and have not had the problem since. Not sure if it is just a fluke or not. Some more knowledgeble person on this site may be able to answer that question. Did not hear a difference in the spring when taken out.

Going to suck waiting for the fill adapter, No wonder your taking the gun apart – I’ve had similar things happen. When I got my Condor I’d ordered several tins of .22 CP’s… They sent me .177’s (marked in a .22 tin so not Pyramids fault) so I had to wait another week to shoot it. Just this thursday I picked up a Mill, but dont have any tooling for it and have to wait for the stuff I ordered to come which will hopefully be here monday.
Hope the pump got there safely.

Hahahahaaa….Yes B.B., while we have your attention could you please explain again how you don’t need a chronograph because you can tell by how the gun sounds as to how many FPS is shooting.
That one always cracks me up 😆 🙄

I’m waiting as I type for the UPS man to drop off that pump. Worst part is I didn’t read your helpful emails close enough and the airforce adapter for the pump (Yes…bought separately…DOH!) won’t be here till Monday. I figured it gives me time to “imagine” my lethalality with the SS.

Good to know that the Air Force team is using those space age polymers on my shooter. Much relief is felt vs. regular ol’ tape.
I’m still surprised by the simplicity of the design actually. I’m used to taking apart complicated spring guns for tunes and fixes. I can certainly understand why this gun is so easy to mod now. Not that I’m saying I have that kinda capability, just see the benefit of KISS engineering.
Good to finally post on this great forum though. I’ve read till my eyes bled.
Tape? That’s NOT tape – That’s a super doopa hi tech spring damper made of a space age polymer and attached to the spring using modern bonding techniques…

Ha ha! Yes, that white thing you saw is tape. Airforce put it on the spring supposedly to reduce spring twang. Leave it or remove it is your call. Removing it didn’t make a difference to me in noticing more or less twang.

Yeah when I took this thing apart the first time there was -what I thought to be a cigarette butt floating around inside – I kinda said to my self “what the hell”. Got it torn down and shake out piece of dried up paper – thought it was some sort of quality check sticker or something and I tossed it…lol—- I can see where AF was going though- there is a small twang to the hammer spring- the ring fromt the tank oscillating is more impressive its a weird sensation as the bottle rings agains your cheek bone. Neither one is a big deal…
