High Chronograph readings
Are your chronograph reading a lot higher then you expect? There may be a reason for this and it has nothing to do with your gun.
I asked a friend SteveNC to post a picture he has used several times to demonstrate how a single light source can give false readings on the chrono.

The single light source causing a false reading is an interesting issue that might bite some folks when they think they are getting solid data.
Another interesting problem can be false low readings. I once set up the chrony to test a big bore (.62) and expecting to see great numbers after a tune was surprised by lower readings than before the tune. I had adjusted the scope and thus did not realize that my POI at a given range had actually climbed significantly. I was very concerned that some terrible damage had been done to the gun during the tune and and that excellent performance had been destroyed instead of enhanced.
It turned out that the chrony was reporting false low velocities because I had it set up too close to the muzzle. Apparently the air wash was interfering with proper operation of the chrony! I have no idea if its the condensation in the muzzle blast or some other mechanism but being too close to the muzzle threw the readings off to the low side by over 100 FPS! After moving the chrony to about 8 feet from the muzzle, I got consistent readings that showed that the tune had worked and the gun was more powerfull than ever.
