2nd gun

hi Guys
I have nearly finihed tuning my Talon and have nearly got it where I want it. It is a 25″ .20 ss with a Blodnob valve, heavy hammer etc. Just waiting for the strong spring. It shoots 23 gr. enjins at 980fps. Absolutely awesum. I am also getting 0.5″ groups at 50 metres.

Now I am thinking of buyinf a second rifle (this time in .177) and looked at the A410 side level FAC. It will set me back a Cool US $1400 down here in South Africa.
Now I have been thinking (which for me is extremely dangerous). What if I buy a standard SS in .177. Way I see it there are a few advantages
1\ I save US $800 on the price
2\ I can use the New standard tank with my present setup and shoot jsbs at 900FPS
3\ I also have a super quiet .177 for plinting and those pesky Inian miner
4\ I have spare interchangeable parts.

In summary buying the 410 I get a super accurate multishot .177 If I go for the talon I end up with 3 rifles for effectively half the cost??

I would be interesed to read what you guys think and which way you would go???

Hi Psion, did you get the Talon from Boondock? We had a hunting/plinking outing on Saturday @ Farmer’s place in Kuilsriver.

I had two TSS’s with several barrels, just recently traded it off for an Air Arms S400E :-). I let the 24″ .22 and 18″ .177 go with the trade, bought an 18″ .22 for the TSS I still have. I also have a Blodnob valve in it. I will say that a Talon or TSS with an 18″ .177 is a great setup, excellent power and accuracy, and nice and compact. Easy to pack around in the car. That’s why my remaining TSS is wearing an 18″ barrel. And like Triggerman said, the Talon tends to be the gun I pack around, partly because is so compact, especially compared to the S400, that’s almost a foot longer. But I also don’t want to ding up my AA. Truth be told, I’m toying with the idea of letting the Talon go and getting a 410, I really want a repeater, and I’ve well and truly fallen in love with my 400 :-). I find I’m kind of enjoying NOT tinkering with a rifle for a change, and the triggers in these AA’s are AWESOME! Later.

I also have a .22 Air Arms S410 ERB in walnut. Not only is it pinpoint accurate, but it is also a beauty. But damn, the gun is too front heavy. Plus, my Condor SS is just as accurate and oh-so-friggin’ light and durable; I dropped it once from a six-feet drawer but it never lost its zero.

I had an AA S410 carbine in .177 last year. Yes, It was definately the tack driver, but by all accounts, was basically worthless to me. By that I mean, even though it had the beech stock, it was a pretty sum-beech….. 😀 Plus it was heavy as hell.

I was always worried about carrying it around and bumping it or scratching a ding into the finish, so anytime I went out, it was the Talon that tagged along with me.

My brother has a TSS in .177 and I can guarantee you, it held it’s own up against the S410 all day long. Being so anal about having it, I sold it and bought a second TSS and have never looked back.
