"possible" candidate for cheap CCD based IR NV
If it has a decent CCD and imager then thats a bargain for $80…..
When Toys R Us gets some in stock I’ll check them out for possible behind the scope use.

Got my hands on one of these things locally so I can give it a more in depth look.
Thankfully it just has regular screws and no epoxy or ultrasonic welds which makes it much easier to dissassemble so I can get a look inside.

And the CCD board on the right, to the left is the back of one of two IR LED boards – One is a hoop and the other a small circle which look like they would fit inside each other.
I had a hard time getting a sharp image due to camera not the image itself, but the image quality is nicer than I thought.
No IR, just ambient light from basement windows.

Certainly seems like it would be easy to make a housing on the mill that could be mounted behind the scope – Might take a while but I’ll be working on that once the CNC is up and running.
Yeah yellow, i still have it laying by my bedside table ready to spot anything that goes bump in the night. I think I’d sell my guns before I sell that thing. Was going through a couple boxes and found my IR laser illuminator.

CCD’s er constantly getting better….
the xeonics gets a 5 frames pr second rate when its really dark…fox or coyote could move a yard in the time of a frame….
dealextreme.com has some really nice IR diodes, for boosting a ccd device like a sony camcorder or swann night camera survailance dohicky ….like 3$ for the cheapest and it works great…i also tried the .5w IT on a star board, pretty powerfull and can mounted in alot of cheap Led flashlights, pretty easy.
i could see that toy CCD thingy work quite good with a couple of extra long throw IR flashlights, good enough for airgun ranges….and animals eyes will shine up for hundreds of yards if they look your way
Yeah… and the Supervision is around $1300… and even more for Gen 3’s.
Glad you still have the NAIT – I sold mine in a moment of Weakness.
CCD is a good alternative to tube based systems for a behind the scope NV – There the GB Sights in England get good results which is around $2000 if you bought one from over there so if one for $80 would work – why would I pass that up.

I saw one in Walmart and bought it to try out. Because Walm-Mart is quite a drive away I just bought some batteries and tried it out in the parking lot…
Other than being a PITA to open the box so that it can be returned I was unable to test it because it was too bright. Apparently its been adjusted for Max gain or something because the image whited out and I couldn’t see anything.
Construction is typical of a toy, but the webcam and LCD screen seem usable. I’ll try and find one locally so I can try it out properly.

I’ve had a Gen 3 NV – Not as nice as the PVS-14, but it was pretty good.

about 16 hours left on my auction… go for it! I had fun using this unit, but found that my PVS-14a is actually faster, easier to use, and shows me a lot more than the X100XP.
