Q:

Regulator? What regulator? On the AA S410ERB?

My .22 Air Arms S410 ERB has been set for shooting 14.3 grainers at sub-medium power for a while now for hunting pigeons at a maximum distance of 30 yards. Until last night, however, I wondered how many usable shots the power setting allowed me. So, I did a pellets-wastin’ chrony test. Here it is:

Ending Pressure: 2100 PSI

That’s right, folks, ninety shots! 😯 Now, I’m thinking this setting will spare me from having to do the two-stroke up-down dance for a while. 😆

Here’s the kicker: The pellets used were Crosman pointed pellets! 🙄 Yowza!

So basically, if I were to fly to New York city and snipe pigeons as I sit on a bench watching passersby gaze at me in fear (granted I was given permission to eradicate the birds), it would mean that I’d also be needing a truck to haul all ninety dead birds to the city’s incinerating facility. Hmm, ninety times seven days … and then multiply the answer to one year… now that would be doing the city a huge favor, eh? 😆

Hmm, I’m imagining what a 90-shot string with JSBs will be like … with their more uniform weight … hmm, I wonder

Remember the recommended fill pressure of the AA PCP’s is 190bar or 2755psi.

Hey Dave, I intentionally filled it to 3100 PSI. Remember, not all AA S410s are the same. The reason why I filled it to 3100 PSI is so that I can get a curve. When the rilfe is filled to 3000 PSI, the velocity starts from the top of the curve. So, I wanted the velocity to start just a tad below the top velocity then rise to the top then fall back to where the beginning velocity was. Hence, a tight power curve whereas the maximum variation in FPS (extreme spread) is about 30 FPS more or less.

Yes, I’m liking the string. POI is virtually the same at 30 yards.

Hey, Spinj, I thought the AA’s maxed out at 200 bar, or about 2900 psi. Is that an intentional over fill, do the newer ones go a little higher, or did you just screw up :-)? Bitchin’ string, though.

Dave
